Vijay can field, so that's good. Guys like Raina are excellent. We'll need someone reliable in the slips once Dravid goes - those are the most important positions fielding wise.

I don't think it should really matter that much in Test cricket as long as everyone can catch to a decent standard. Having someone who isn't particularly agile or has a weak arm is excusable - even having quite a few in the team isn't really a huge issue as long as you don't start dropping catches left, right and centre. Reliable slips and good catching overall are very important but I'd hate to see someone get left out of the Test team because they were a slow runner - the fact that Test cricket is so heavly based on specialist skill and mental toughness rather than athleticism is one of the reasons I enjoy watching it so much.

Seriously mate your team has just drubbed the no.1 side in the world and you still some find grey areas in their performance, just try to enjoy your team' success for once without finding something to criticise them with, and don't undermine your own monumental effort in making sure India wins, so you should be partying tbh....

Catching is what I was getting at though. That's primary, though ground fielding helps quite a bit in not releasing pressure in Test cricket. I don't want someone clearly superior to be left out due to fielding, but in matters where it is close, the selectors should go for the better fielder. That type of emphasis will get everyone on the fringes to lift their standard.

I hope Australia conduct an inquest into why their specialist spinner wasn't played until the last test. As things have turned out, perhaps the Indian team owe Yuvraj, Rohit and the other young'uns a debt of gratitude for keeping Krejza out of the lineup for the first three tests.

And also, watching the thick skinned Shashank Manohar walk out to congratulate the Indian players made me want to throw up my lunch. Hope Ganguly turned his back on him after throwing in a couple of eff you's for good measure.
