You do realise that if White took the ball to the umpire then he would probably remove the offending piece himself?
And just how would "smoothing" out a rough area on the rough side of the ball help Oz?
Also, if by some chance the offending piece was on the "smooth" side of the ball, then all he needed to do was rub persperation into the area and rub it on his pants, i.e SHINE IT!!!!!! and the thing would stay down (if you dont believe, head down to the nets and try it)
If you want blood, fine him for doing the umps job but calling that ball tampering is making the quintessential mountain out of nothing
I hope that reply would suffice. Also note Bowden earning Ponting earlier. Such a braindead cricketer should be brought to book.Being a professional cricketer, White should have known better, so i don't think he should be easily let off for that.
Anyway, well here is what the law actually states:
Players are barred, by Law 42.3, from rubbing the ball on the ground, interfering with its seam or surface, or using any implement that can alter the condition of the ball to thereby gain unfair advantage.
Him too!Krejza tbh
^ another close one there .... Sehwag comes out with a special .... the myth that Sehwag can't do well in the 2nd innings has been busted. though there was no reason to think that he would not succeed in the 2nd innings but still we had that myth somehow. .... iirc, he has two 90s now in the 2nd innings in this series and who can forget his 150 odd at Adelaide to draw the game for Indiaappears as if i read the day somewhat yday
India is 86 runs ahead. the dilemma for them would be to go for a win or play for the series. the decision they take would be determined by how things shape up tomm but a Sehwag special would not only make that decision easier but also demoralize the Australians
and it's nice to see wickets being shared by the main Indian bowlers rather than one bowler picking up bulk of them
Love your temerity to quote yourself again and again.^ another close one there .... Dhoni has been tremendous with both his batting and captaincy. Again the wrong idea that Dhoni cant do well in tests with his batting has been busted.I would give Dhoni the credit for turning the game on the 3rd day with his captaincy and helping India get close to 300 in their 2nd inning with his bat after that Sehwag special
the idea of persisting with Dravid, making him go on his own terms and so on looks good on paper but not in practice. if you are critically sick, you need to take proper treatment to get back to normal and not carry on hoping that eventually the sickness will go. It's ok if you play a player for a couple of series, hoping that he would be back to his old self or at least a semblance of it but not 2 years!!!!
Krejza again delivered and probably showed why he should have been played more often in this series than not
tomm, i guess the chances of Dhoni completing a hattrick of wins as a test captain are bright. I don't know if anyone has one 3 tests in a row as a captain and that too against two of the strongest teams. Dhoni has a good chance of achieving that tomm, if he can get the team to focus of a session or two!!!
Ponting won 16? So did Waugh.tomm, i guess the chances of Dhoni completing a hattrick of wins as a test captain are bright. yeah, i remember Waugh was halted in his march by India at Kolkatta 2001, who could forget that game .... I didn't have the Australia team in mind when i wrote that as they would have most of those records but was saying from an Indian perspectives, I don't think we have had a captain who won his first 3 tests as a captain and Dhoni has a good chance of achieving that tommPonting won 16? Ponting still has case for being banned. He was atleast 6 overs behind when the Indian innings closed.Lovely bowling from Watson and Krejza in this match. I'm glad Watson will have the best bowling average of the seamers over the series, I think he deserves it.
Totally farcical from Ponting, he should have just copped the ban. I wonder what the feeling in the Aussie camp is this evening, Watson looked pretty annoyed when bowling and I think it was interesting that the coach did the press conference.
I hope Ponting still gets banned because then even if Symonds comes in for the next match they could still play Watto.
Yeah, that's the team I've expected to see against New Zealand for quite some time. Krejza taking 12 wickets might change that though, rightly or wrongly. Maybe Clark won't be recalled?Think Watson is massively more likely to be in the team at the next test than Symonds. Not convinced we'll see Symonds back vs. NZ. Haigh this morning was saying it still seemed there was more to the Darwin thing than has been revealed, and him simply saying that he feels he's ready might not be enough.
Otherwise, Ponting said they'd play Watson and Symonds together if they were both available before Darwin, so I'd anticipate that would mean that White would be dropped and Haddin drop down to eight:
Katich
Hayden
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
Watson
Symonds
Haddin
Lee
Johnson
Clark
with Clarke and Symonds to protect Ponting from suspension...
Every over of that with 100% commitment. I became a fan.115 overs for Watto throughout the series and no injuries, dare I say it - we're out of the woods.
"tomm, i guess the chances of Dhoni completing a hattrick of wins as a test captain are bright. I don't know if anyone has won 3 tests in a row as a captain and that too against two of the strongest teams"Ganguly did it twice I think. Starting v Australia in Kolkata in 2001, than against Aus again going on to Zimbabwe.
Second time SA Bang Bang in 2004

Azh did it too, Zim was a tough team when Ganguly beat them.
Fleming even has a 5 match streak.
