I wonder if Lee should have been omitted instead of Clark? What does everyone feel about the fact that Australia premier fast bowler (Lee) bowled the least amount of overs among all the specialist bowlers.
Both White and Watson had 5 wickets a piece coming into the game, very little difference at all between them.Haha, have you been drinking shampoo or something? Watson's not only batted pretty well, including top scoring once, he's also been one of Australia's best bowlers. If he got dropped it would be as stupid as White being retained, possibly even worse.
Disagree, Watto has been much more penetrating than White could ever be. He has troubled the Indians more than even Mitchell. Both White and Watson had 5 wickets a piece coming into the game, very little difference at all between them.
Fair enough call in reference to test cricket, but are you advocating White's selection over Watson? Because if we take all cricket into consideration, White's output looks slightly less good...Should i also worship Watson?, a cricketer who has done **** all to date but is treated like hes royalty? just to fit in.
Have you looked at how he's gotten the wickets though? Both White and Watson had 5 wickets a piece coming into the game, very little difference at all between them.
The whole day has been a complete farceWhat does everyone feel about the fact that Australia premier fast bowler (Lee) bowled the least amount of overs among all the specialist bowlers.
Lee and Clark both have to be in the eleven unless they are injured, Clark' omission is dire enough but dropping Lee would have been a shocker too, but then the key lies in how Ponting uses Lee, as badly as Lee might have bowled, but imo he hasn't been used Lee well at all, even today when there was some reverse swing taking place Ponting didn't bring him on, this being despite him being the best exponent of reverse swing in the current Aussie side.I wonder if Lee should have been omitted instead of Clark?
Not saying White should be picked ahead of Watson, i just simply put it out there that if they wanted 2 spinning options and it was a case of Clark vs Watson then you'd pick Clark and Watson could of missed. Though i think the selectors are worried about our batting because apart from the last test it hasn't been too stable.Fair enough call in reference to test cricket, but are you advocating White's selection over Watson? Because if we take all cricket into consideration, White's output looks slightly less good...
Got to take in account overrates as well, they are already bad enough with nearly 40 overs of spin. All i'm trying to do is give reasons why the selections may have occurred and take the positives out of it.Have you looked at how he's gotten the wickets though?
I'm pretty sure even Cam White would say that he's been outbowled by Watson this series.
Like I said earlier, White bowled okay today, but the choice of him to play just doesn't right at all, a 3rd quick had to play.
If we didn't want a 3rd specialist quick I would have even rathered Marsh opening, Katich 6, Watson 7 and Haddin at 8 instead of what we've got.
Yup so far he has looked more capable of the 2 at test level without producing a whole lot more. If that makes sense? TBH i agree purely on bowling White would be nowhere near selection. He wouldn't of even been called up if not for his batting.Mike, I agree that Watson is considerably overrated on this board, but that doesn't change the fact that:
a) He's better than Cam White with the bat; and
b) He's better than Cam White with the ball
Seriously, there is just no justification for playing White when Krejza is in the team, and batting him at 8.
Its not a matter of you being ridiculed because you're against popular opinion and not conforming to the Watson love, because God knows I think he's a tool. But the fact is, White is just as overrated by Victorians, he shouldn't have a test cap if we're being serious here.
Good on you. There's a lot of negativity on this board.Got to take in account overrates as well, they are already bad enough with nearly 40 overs of spin. All i'm trying to do is give reasons why the selections may have occurred and take the positives out of it.
I laughed because it's hilarious and blind Victorian bias doesn't deserve a serious response, not to mention I've posted at length on selection issues.Ok is this better:
Ohh noes we dr0ppedd Clark and left White in. Selectors are dum farks. The sky is falling, there is no logic at all behind that decision..
Seriously, the selectors are taking a punt to win the Border- Gavasker trophy. It obviously wasn't working previously. Just because my views are tad different to some doesn't necessarily mean i know less or am wrong. Rather than posting a laughing emoticon, maybe contribute to the discussion rather than wasting space. I'd actually expect better from a mod in the first place.
Or would you rather i conform to the popular opinion?
Should i also worship Watson?, a cricketer who has done **** all to date but is treated like hes royalty? just to fit in.
All i want is justification, opposed from the million predictable posts adding very little insight.
Plenty of agony could still be in store on Day 2 mate....Well......... that wasn't as disastrous as I thought it would be.
