C'mon guys its Clark and not Clarke, i think the guy has done enough by now to be named correctly. The Oz team selection smells like trying not to lose rather than trying to win.
Three secialist bowlers one of which is playing his test and 4 batting allrounders.
(BTW Watson is the koala in the team)
White should have been out for Krejka and if Clarke (who is the most successful bowler in the team) is injured then another specialist bowler should be in.
If White is in for his batting at number eight, it indicates a loss of confidence in the 7 above doesn't it.
The selection of the team throughout the series shows a lack of confidence in the overall team structure and planning.
Clark needed to do more than contain. Just bare in mind, if this was a dead rubber, situations would be much more different, but Australia are seeking to get a win here. Thus far in the series, as expensive as they have all been (I'd assume Clark has been the most economical) Lee, Johnson, Watson and I'd hate to say even White have looked more likely to dismiss the Indians than Clark.Had Lee/Watson/White/Whoever been taking a heap of wickets all series and Clark only had 2, then fair enough. But considering no one has run through the Indians, it seems pretty strange logic to leave out the bowler that is most capable of creating pressure and wickets for other bowlers, not nessesarially just himself, instead of others who also aren't really taking wickets but getting hit around at about 5 or 6 an over. Never underestimate the value of putting pressure on players like Sehwag, Dhoni, Ganguly etc. They have proven that they can struggle when the runs dry up in the past, and drying up runs goes a long way toward winning Test matches...
Did he edge it? Haven't seen a replay..Good comeback from Crazy, lures Sehwag into the drive, beat him, probably edged, Haddin dropped.
Meh, i was just kidding there...ronchi is too rash for test matches imo
No, bat hit pitch, only just.Did he edge it? Haven't seen a replay..
No he didn't edge it, but Haddin' glove-work was a bit shoddy there.Did he edge it? Haven't seen a replay..
no edge bat hit groundDid he edge it? Haven't seen a replay..
Yeah thought so.No, bat hit pitch, only just.
No, that used to be the case until the Slater dropping in 2001.How much of a role do the on tour selectors have while picking up the XI for a game, aren't the coach, captain and vice-captain who generally decide on the team composition for every game??
really hmm didn't know tht...No, that used to be the case until the Slater dropping in 2001.
Now it's the selectors, with some input from the captain.
pfft we don't forward plan for the kiwis.I hate you Australia. This is one big conspiracy. You make a song and dance about India being important and play down New Zealand, but we all know this is smoke and mirrors, throwing the series by playing poor, undeserving players and dropping your best bowler. You're just going to lull us into a false sense of security, pick your best players at home and wallop us.
