His situation is similar to Shane Warne's though in his case he has got a British passport rather than a German one and I do not thin Cricket Kenya are particularly againts British passport holders in the team if Seren Waters and Ravi Shah are to be taken as case points
I'm sure CK don't object, it's just a question of whether he'll still be eligible to play in the UK as an England-qualified player if he's playing for Kenya at the time.

British passport or no British passport, I don't think you can be, in international sporting terms, a citizen of two countries simualtaneously. But I may be wrong.

It's a shame Middlesex seem to think Dawid Malan is a better batsman than Joyce. I'll be pretty surprised if this is the case.
I thought it was just a case of Joyce wanting to move on to revitalise his career.

I found it interesting that he skippered them to T20 Cup victory, then lost the armband to Udal for the SSS, and presumably also the CL. I realise he wasn't full-time skipper, but what happened there?

He wouldn't need to if he hadn't lost his place to imported South Africans though.

Joyce was doing juuuuuuust fine at Middlesex, but for some reason he'd been superseded. Not fair and a shame it's meant he's had to leave the county he's basically come to call home.

Didn't follow it closely, so I wasn't aware he'd even lost his place. just thought he wanted to move on for a fresh challenge which is obviously fair enough. If he's been squeezed out then that is a bit silly, he's one of the better batsmen in the championship IMO

Joyce has been below his best for the last two seasons, and it's been pretty clear for a while he's fancied a change of scenery, having been at Middx for over 10 years.

As regards the captaincy, think it was as simple as the fact they knew he wanted to move on at the end of the season and so saw no real sense in him continuing with the captain's role.

Errrrrrrr..........but ................
But what? He was born in SA?

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't he been brought-up in London in the Compton family through whose veins runs Middlesex County Cricket Club, and come through their age-group system?

I haven't checked but I think you'll find that the great Compo's first wife, a South African lady, lived in South Africa and brought up his three sons there. Richard, the middle son, and Nick's mother are South African and he was born there and brought up there - he did come here to finish his schooling at Harrow so I don't think "through and through" is an appropriate phrase

Born and raised in SA IIRC. Went to one of the top (if not THE top) schools in SA

WRT Malan versus Joyce, the fact the former is the better part of a decade younger probably informed Middlesex's decision as which of them to keep as well I'd imagine.

I see. More multinational than I'd suspected, but still something of a Middlesex lad nonetheless.

could be pretty formidable with Laxman in the middle order. Would be very surprised should Kent allow him to leave.

By the way, for anyone interested, I have set up a blog with the sole purpose being to cover County Cricket. Covering latest news, general County news and opinionated articles. Feel free to offer suggestions or add comments. Thanks.
