Build-up to Indian Domestic Season 2008-09

Bad news for fans of the domestic scene- no live coverage of the matches on NEO, or even on Cricinfo!
This is shocking. They've got devoted coverage of the ICL, but not of the Ranji competition. Does cricinfo even believe in on field reporters?

Already is now. Good time to pick him. He'll be high on confidence and obviously is in form.
Wonder if the team management agrees. Ideally would have like Chopra in there, though.
My man Powar has bagged a fifer v Rajasthan though AA continues to struggle..
edit: Seems like this is being discussed in the tour thread too.

Powar's got wickets and runs here. All he needs to do is tighten his fielding, and keep up this form. The look of the Mumbai pace attack isn't threatening. You've got Agarkar and Kulkarni, both undersized, leading the attack, though Usman Malvi was one of the better pacers when he played last time, but that was long ago. We may see the spinners be a lot more crucial for them. The Rajasthan team isn't a patch on their EPL counterparts, but then, that team was full of players from much stronger catchment teams, and of course, other countries.

Rohit Sharma did better than last innings, and scored a century to put his team ahead by a huge margin. It's an uphill task for Rajasthan now.

Cricket Archive has the scorecards. Crapinfo sux.
They're not very user-friendly, though. You really have to dig a fair bit (a times deep) into that site to find what you want. It's also very slow...though I'm still looking for scorecards now. That's a very informative site, but it's difficult to find some stuff there.

Delhi scored 434, in reply to Punjab's 391. Where was it played? In Roshanara Club Ground, a highly exclusive area- even mediapersons were forcibly evicted with a police threat once from that place during a Ranji match. Why do they have matches in such places? I wonder. Rajat Bhatia missed a century by one run, falling leg-before to a new Punjab bowler.

There was no problem with the choice of ground for this match, though there were many runs and few wickets here too.

All the scorecards of current matches can be found here. That will save a lot of you the trouble of digging up the scorecards.

300 not out of 383 balls, Great SR (also helped by a road of a pitch,)
I wouldn't read too much into the performance of the TN team. They're one of the better batting sides, and the team they're facing is possibly the weakest this season- and they're playing in a club ground. Vijay, though, deserved his place because of consistent performances over a long time.

Mohammed Kaif and Tanmay Srivastava score hundreds against Andhra. Though Srivastava scored over 150, the score of 144 by Kaif is more relevant, as he's a lot more likely to make the Indian team.

And Yuvraj bowls five overs. Does he have to? He needs to concentrate on his batting more than ever now.

Well it seems Mumbai and Guj won while the rest were draws. Does anyone have more info?

Second round is on- and CricInfo gives NO coverage at all- and nor do N(E)O Cricket, though they had a Test match to cover. Still, we'd expect coverage of this match-

Baroda vs UP: It's a disappointing display by Baroda, who still have an ageing batting top order. Praveen Kumar bulldozes them with five wickets, while Chawla picks two for not too many. This is a cracker of a match.

Gujarat vs Mumbai: Great batting performance by Mumbai, with Jaffer gobbling up the Gujarat bowling, though Rahane's century is a lot more relevant, as he can improve a lot with A-team cricket, and we've seen enough of Jaffer for some time. It's good for Mumbai, but something that leaves us yawning as we've got used to Jaffer and Mazumdar scoring big. Only two wickets to fall, and Trivedi has none.

Hyderabad vs Delhi: Boring first day. Hyderabad are at 247 for five, with a century by SA Pai and another over 50 by Abhinav Kumar in consecutive matches. A wicket goes to middle-order batsman Rajat Bhatia.

Anyway, check the Baroda/UP match- both Irfan and Praveen Kumar have scored, and Kumar has followed his five wickets with a rapid score of 38 at a run a ball.

With Kshemal Waingankar getting five against England, he may soon see himself in a Mumbai uniform, and he's worth it. I've read a lot about him and heard from those who have seen him, and he's one of the better seam/swing bowlers around, and surely a lot better than Kulkarni. He's been unlucky not to get too many matches for Mumbai.

Pujara gets another 300. What are your thoughts on him? Is it time we blood him on the International scene?

And disappointed to see Praveen Kumar missing out in the ODIs.
