***Official*** Stanford Super Series

Dire stuff - but actually I don't know whether to be glad or not. Maybe the bulk of the squad thinks the same as the average CC poster, ie it's not really what playing cricket is about? I doubt it, but

Terrible batting from England. There was nothing SS did special, other than bowl at the stumps, the way Bell, Prior, Peitersen, Wright got out was shocking.

The negative is that England will be directly coming to India, and in such a state of mind. Many will be demoralised, some will be searching for motivation, darn, I wouldnt like to be an English player right now.

This team could beat any team in the world apparently

In five years there will be on West Indies Test XI, there will be a Stanford Superstars side instead

Fletcher resembled Abdul Razzak of Pakistan, in the way he bats. He doesnt look anywhere near Test class for his batting. But his keeping is good. Very much impressed with his takes today.

Naa, not near Rajasthan Royals.

Now what? The twin spin duo of Modi and Stanford join hands, and integrate SSers to the Champions League? Now that will result in cash splayed out, not to mention the ratings.

If Modi gets to massage Stanford's ego a bit, and make him realize the amount of publicity and sheer craze for 20-20 in India, I think it could be possible. How can a man resist such publicity, esp a man like Stanford.

Glad I dozed off after Prior's wicket now.

Fair play to The SS tho, wanted it more.

She might also be making a point, there was a story that apparently she had a 'fling' with Chris Gayle!
Mike Selvey alluded to this in yesterday's Guardian:

his lead-in has not been ideal, with rumours of a fallout with his benefactor over a personal matter that might offer a distraction. He missed Stanford's first match last Saturday for "family reasons"

Hmmm...

Will be interesting to see whether Stanford's financial clout can save this from oblivion

These things only survive because of tv money and I'm yet to hear of anybody who thought the event was anything other than a shambles

Stanford series has been a hit with Carribean audiences. If it sparks a revival of interest in the West Indies, so be it.
