Mishra's been excellent for a long time. "One performance" generally means "the one performance i actually watched".
I know he's had excellent FC performances but in a series like this, they don't mean jack really. If that's all it took, Chopra would have been in the side, for example. And that would have been the wrong decision.

He's bowling poorly, but he's still looked a lot more likely than Kumble did to take wickets (and got Katich). That's to be expected i guess, since Kumble's a 4th-innings bowler.
Kumble always look innocuous for long periods, though. Misha's bowled slightly better than Kumble but in a tough situation or wearing deck late on day 4/5, you know he's going to be tough to face whereas Mishra is at best an unknown quantity.

Tbh, i'd have went for Kumble on this particular pitch, so i agree with you there. Harbhajan's injury made it a bit of a non-debate anyway.

It was interesting listening to Bracken on the fox sports cricket show. He basically said reverse swing is not mentioned or practiced in state cricket. I guess our tracks barely suit swing bowling. Doesn't put us in good stead for test matches

Really good to see the Aussie batsmen put up a fight.

What happened to Kumble? I've just switched on and Dhoni seems to be captaining again.

Maybe not in NSW where there's plenty of clouds around to do the conventional swing but I'd be surprised if it's not talked about in Adelaide or Perth, for example.

Went for a catch at short mid-on (would have been a screamer had he reeled it in) and split the webbing on his left-hand. Ouch, that stings...

Sharma on for a pre-new ball spell, Tendulkar the new fifth bowler. Kumble a big loss mid-match.

Australia's best-case scenario is a small lead to play with and give India a tricky-ish risk-free chase on day five.

this is still our match to win even if we can get them out for with a lead of 100-150
and can score quick runs say 200 to survive on this pitch 5th day for even 80 overs might be difficult

Tough session that one for Australia and tbh they should be happy they only lost 1 wicket in that session considering the way the pitch played and the way the spinners bowled, anyways Ponting has played well and as has already been said "he can't play spin in India talk should be put to rest now", though i doubt that would happen because his critics would be quick to point Harbhajan didn't play in this test.

First half hour after tea will be CRUCIAL. India should bring on both pace bowlers because the ball is reversing quite nicely. If they start with the spinners or a spinner, can't see the batsmen being as troubled by that.

They might want to save pace for the new ball, since they only have two in the team. Or, if they can keep the ball reversing, they just won't take the new one, but before long it'll start to die off the bat a lot. Tough call really.
