*Official* English Football Season 2008-2009

Not happy at the Everton vs Arsenal match.

We could have been up 2-0 at half time if we got a bit of luck, and than to concede 3 goals in the second half was poor, with some pretty big defensive lapses. This season has been very, very average to say the most.
Tbh were it not for Tim Howard making one very good save then Arsenal would have been level long before half time.

Yeah...was genuinely surprisised about it tbh, so many of these "fans" had brought their kids along to watch them make racist chants and swear and all sorts. FFS they were playing Arsenal...not a team who they have a particularly fierce rivalry with...but yet they seemed to get incredibly pissed off at the fact that they were not winning. I like football as much as the next guy, but FFS so many of the fans there seemed to think it was the most important thimng in their lives, which imo is quite frankly pathetic, spoilt what was otherwise a very enjoyable game for me personally.
Yeah, see my rant from a few weeks ago re derby day. As with most clubs, it's a minority ruining it for the majority, nonetheless it's a scummy minority

Corrin, any recent experience of Vale Park to guide me for Tuesday night?
Been there a few times. The ground itself is a bit of a dump, but you're seated (bad thing, IMO) and sheltered (good thing, IMO). If you're after a beer you can get one in the ground which is always nice in the lower leagues, and IIRC they have some good food about, and I don't imagine that your queues will be too busy, Tuesday night aways can't imagine you'll take a lot! Quite easy to get in as a student if you still have any ID knocking about, but a man of your professional standing might not wish to do such a thing.

Pre-match a few of the pubs are home fans only, Tranmere fans always cram into one right by the ground called "The Vine." Every time I've been to Vale the pub has been closed after the game, I swear they only open for away fans. Get yourself there beforehand.

I said it's a bit of a dump, but tbh it's probably as good a ground as you're going to get in League Two, bar a few

I went to Vale Park once in the early 90's - the locals were pretty hostile and there were a surprisingly large number of them

To describe Burslem as a dump is, in my view, showing admirable restraint

Yeah, some of the locals are ****, but tbh you find that when you go to any ground in a suburban area

Never been to Vale Park, but the old Victoria Ground was one of the few times I was genuinely concerned for my physical well-being. Went to watch Stoke/QPR (long story) and, as my vaguely southern tones are probably indistinguishable from yer actual proper Londoner to the average Staffordshire meathead, was quire concerned I'd cop a shoeing for being an R's fan, which, frankly, wouldn't have sat well.

Yeah, actually you can add Stoke to the list of teams whose fans are psychotic

C'mon Spurs, no need for a courageous comeback. Don't you realise your splendid role in these economically depressed times, is to give us all something to chuckle about.

I expect and hope for a trademark farcical surrender in the second-half, please:)

Observer two weeks ago planted the seed, thought I'd hold off until they'd actually done it tho. Imagine your Norse chums might've borrowed from the same source.

Heaton a Blade, actually tho, ftr.
