Love that FC average and he's taken big wickets for India A as well. It's too early for him but if he's indeed corrected that action, very promising for India's spin stocks.
Ganguly is gone after this series and you would expect Kumble to be gone too. Sachin still looks like a really threatning player even today and still looks fairly youthful even at 35. Barring major drama's with injury, I think Sachin can play on for a little longer if he wants to. He certainly deserves to go out on his own free will rather than being pushed to retire.Anyone want to take guesses as to when they will call it a day?
Ganguly: as we know, at the end of this series
Tendulkar: maybe at the end of this series or after England. He'll break Lara's record soon and I'm not sure what he needs to do after it
Dravid: not to sure TBH
Laxman: after England
Kumble: after England or at the end of this series
One match means crap. You can't discount 60 FC matches because someone had a good President XI match - that's just ridiculous. We aren't talking about two people with great FC records and one making it and another isn't. We are talking about a great record vs. a pretty bad record. My observations were based on the Board President's XI vs Aus match..he had two innings and looked a distant second best to Sharma.Anyway,i always believe that FC performances take you to a certain level but not beyond.I mean its quite possible for a guy to be an awesome FC player without actually being good at the International level, isn't it?But what i think hardly matters..i sure hope Badri can prove me wrong. If he can come good at the International level, nothing like it.
IIRC, weren't you the one who said that Chawla is not good enough to play tests? and now he is in your test X1 for Australia!!!One match means crap. How many players have gone to be a great player at the Test level while being relatively crap at FC level? Way too few.

Most likely, Mohali is a place to play two spinners, so maybe get in Chawla, or someone like that. Chawla can hold a bat too, so I'd go with:
Sehwag
Gambhir
Dravid
Tendulkar
Laxman
Dhoni
Chawla
Harbhajan
Zaheer
Sharma
Munaf
Munaf played last time here, and bowled extremely well too. He is a liability on the field, but I think we need three pace bowlers, and two spinners
Anyone who said he shouldn't didn't have a clue what they were talking about. Jaffer had an irrefutable claim to a place.weren't you the one who thought Jaffar should open in Australia?
He isn't good enough - nowhere near Kumble or Harbhajan. I said someone like him because I am not sure if anyone else is in the squad right now.IIRC, weren't you the one who said that Chawla is not good enough to play tests? and now he is in your test X1 for Australia!!!
And he should 100% open here. I was giving a realistic side, not one that could only exist in my imagination. Otherwise, Chopra would be there too. Gambhir is horrible. I have never rated him, and nothing so far has even begun to change my mind. He will be a walking wicket throughout the series. He does not have the skill to blunt high quality opening attacks.weren't you the one who thought Jaffar should open in Australia?
It's a three year contract, Kallis is going to end up worth his money.weren't you the one who said Kallis is going to surprise in IPL when some ppl said he is over priced?
Because he is in the squad. Unless you think they will call up Gagandeep Singh because I want him?If I m not wrong, you didn't even rate Munaf highly!!!! and he now he is in your squad too
If you think Rohit, right now, has done more to earn a side in the Indian Test team compared to Badrinath, we can't really talk any further, as our criteria are just way too different.and now its Rohit, who is not good enough yet for tests? i guess, a new star is on the way
Mishra is in the squad, Chawla isn't, IIRC.He isn't good enough - nowhere near Kumble or Harbhajan. I said someone like him because I am not sure if anyone else is in the squad right now.
You want Gagandeep Singh in? He looked most unimpressive in the IPL. Although I am the aware of crossing between formats, Gagandeep looked slow and was absolutely hammered in the IPL. Rarely does a strong Test bowler get hammered so hard in T20.Because he is in the squad. Unless you think they will call up Gagandeep Singh because I want him?
Indeed, your crtieria are different, but certainly the one which wants Rohit in the side sooner rather than later is the one held by the BCCI - it is a worrying reality. If you think Rohit, right now, has done more to earn a side in the Indian Test team compared to Badrinath, we can't really talk any further, as our criteria are just way too different.
I as a critic of Jaffer since the England series, still thought he deserved a place (IIRC) but I believe you have been a tad strong there. Jaffer has massive problems in the corridor and Australia is certainly not the place to go with such a problem as the pitches are on first mornings and the new ball swings around.Anyone who said he shouldn't didn't have a clue what they were talking about. Jaffer had an irrefutable claim to a place.
haha, no way Jaffar should have been on the plane to Australia [yes, I know he had hit a double against Pak] and then been in the 11 with someone like Sehwag in the squadAnyone who said he shouldn't didn't have a clue what they were talking about. Jaffer had an irrefutable claim to a place.
Anyone who was confident in his success might've been asking a fair bit, but that he had earned the right to try is beyond dispute.
