***Official Australia in India***

Man the tosses are going to be so crucial in this Series.

It's a tough ask putting the pads on:

(a) after a day and a half in the field, and

(b) knowing that you're 450 in deficit.

That's how we lost the Ashes in 2005.
But even if Australia do bat first they don't have a spinner to take advantage of the 4th and 5th day.

Pretty poor bowling performance by Australia all round. Clark and Lee were poor, Johnson bowled more accurately than I have seen, but still never looked overly threatening and Krejza was rubbish.

Long hill to climb for the Aussie batsmen...can Ponting finally make a run in India?
Relax, they've hardly bowled in months plus the result of this game is irrelevant - it's all about time in the middle

Perhaps. I would still be worried if I was Australian. Fortunately i'm not :) GO INDIA!
Quit yer whinin' then. :)

Seriously, as has been said, it's a warm-up, Lee and Clark haven't bowled in months and have been confronted with a road to bowl on and Johnson picked up 4, saying the batsmen gifted him wickets through poor shots is a bit of a furphy too because it ignores the good bowling around those wickets. The time to worry isn't quite yet.

Our attack, well and truly, has lost its aura.

The effect of that is incalculable.
Was always going to happen. At least this one will still be competitive. The Test results of Pakistan, NZ, South Africa and England went south when they lost their best bowlers, Australia's results will dip for a while too but I'd back this attack to bowl better than others who've lost their greats.

We've just won three series on the trot with more or less the same bowlers. Seriously, it's not all doom and gloom. If one of Lee or Clark got injured however...*nervous laugh*

Of bigger concern for Australia than the bowling is that Hayden looked completely out of form

Despite what cricinfo says, the bowling was simply ok but the batting was clueless

Hayden will get dropped twice early on in the first innings of the first test, score a hundred, and then batter the bowlers all over the place for the rest of the series.

Great start by Ponting. He has been pulling and driving the pace bowlers with the same venom he has for over 10 years. I hope he can really push on with this when the spinners come on and get his confidence levels high for when he has to face Singh. He also knows where his off stump is, he is leaving comfortably. Looking the goods.

Spinners are on. Now the challenge starts.

 by the way some of you lot are talking, anyone would think half the first class cricketers in Australia have just died in a plane crash and we've sent out the Nimbin Veterans XI. It's a warm-up ffs, and the first game a number of the team have played in a few months. You can't expect them to all come out, take 3 wickets, numerous chances, then pile on a chanceless 70+ each.

In other news, Johnson (y). Hope he can build on it now :)

Will they call up a replacement?

If not, I'd go as far as saying Krezja is the least deserving cricketer to play for Australia in the last twenty or so years.
