No mention of Varun Chopra's 155 thus far.

Fair play to the young man, still not sure if he can take the steps that his Essex colleague Cook has taken, but good to see that he has scored a domestic ton after so long.

Chopra has basically at the last minute salvaged something out of what had to date been a dreadful season for him.

Hope he can get better next year, and hope he doesn't do what so many young and young-ish players have done in recent years and follow a mere one-off very poor season with a move of county.

That seems to be the popular option with the Sussex faithful. I haven't been able to see much of his bowling (only the televised pro-40 shootout v Notts) but he's apparently been bowling fast and with movement. He wouldn't be the first player that has turned his career around at Sussex.
He's very often looked an excellent bowler at FC level though IIRC?

I don't know about "very often", but certainly more often than he ever has at Test level (and yes, obviously that isn't terribly hard).

My prediction is that thanks to Mr Tahir Hampshire will be runners-up next season, unless no one signs Mr Mendis, in which case they'll win the title, unless Lancashire sign Mr Mendis, in which case it will all depend on the weather

And after a season where his bowling dominated his batting skills, Adil Rashid is sticking it, currently on 61. Do't think he' had too many 50s this season. I'm quite sure he used to bat above Brophy and Bresnan.

Not sure about Brophy as he's been as below-par with the bat this season as Rashid has, but Bresnan's batting skills are patently far below either and he should never under any circumstances be batting above them.

Novelty at Taunton - Lancs get a batting bonus point for the first time since 12th August!
Considerably larger novelty at Chelsford or Nevill Road (CBA to look which) - Robert Woodman does indeed get gifted the last 3 wickets. So not only will he almost certainly now end with a season's average of 16, but he'll probably get a contract for next season as well. Great. 8-)8-)8-)8-)8-)8-)

Tahir to run through Notts on a last-day pitch, gifting Hampshire the title. Somehow. I don't know how. But it will happen!

Thought there might have been more activity on here this afternoon. Several games now into their third innings already, meaning that there won't be (m)any draws.

Wainwright got a hundred at number 10! enabling Yorkshire to get maximum batting points. Not looking good for Kent.

And are Notts and Somerset both choking? Notts finding wickets hard to come by, Somerset losing two early on.

Next 24 hours will be enthralling I think, and for once the weather is playing ball.
