Ive long been on record of not seeing Sidebottom as an important piece of the England Test team. However, Id rather him than Broad.

Was referring to Broad and Harmison TBH. Yes, I would, I think he's a far better bowler than either.

AWTA, Broad seems to be a very ordinary bowler at the test level and if he is prefered ahead of Sidebottom just because he can bat a bit, then that would be really idotic.

Good article, particularly agree with your analysis of Anderson's summer. Easily England's man of the summer.

Shall be interesting to see how their attack copes with no renowned reverse swing bowler, though.

Flintoff got the ball to reverse a few times back in the day. Haven't seen him do it in a while mind, that I can remember anyway

Given that the last 3 Tests were the first time he'd played for over 18 months, that's hardly surprising.

The argument is not a totally ludicrous one, though it is one I disagree with. He has shown promise in Tests and does contribute a lot with the bat considering his position. The issue is whether it is worth sacrificing current team performance for the development of a potential future star.

Yes these are my main arguments for his inclusion tbh, though I would concede that his performances with the ball during the series with SA were not really up to much.

That said I do not really rate Sidebottom as a test bowler, would rather see an in form Tremlett in the side than either of them though.
