Not only that but I think it makes sense to have him on the young guys side as well, I think virtually everyone who knows anything about Mick Foley knows he's always taken great pride in putting people over and being that guy that elevates someone to the next level, and I think it makes sense to bring him in and have him on the side that wants to push the talents of the next generation.

Well, here are Impact spoilers for next week:

Jeff Jarrett comes to the ring and says they have signed the greatest acquisition in TNA history and they will be at the Impact Zone next week. Kurt Angle comes out and says he was the one carrying the company while Jeff was gone and he was TNA's greatest acquisition. Jeff says that he spoke to AJ Styles and got Angle his medal back. Angle says thank you and tells Jarrett to get the hell out of his ring. He starts trash talking Jeff as he walks out. Jeff returns and says that he knows Angle wants him in a match at Bound for Glory and now, he's going to get him. So, Jarrett vs. Angle is set for the PPV.

Looks like they changed their mind. Good too, because Jarrett vs Angle at Bound For Glory makes a hell of a lot more booking sense than Angle vs Foley.

Have an announcement in a couple of weeks that Foley will be the special guest referee and you'll have an awesome 'big time' match up for the show. Jarrett returning to the ring after so long will definitely be worth watching again.

OMG Hurricane Helms is coming back! Pure awesomeness if they use him right.

EDIT: And now Kendrick ripping on Hardy's extra curricular activities. This is a side of wrestling I love. More please!

Hurricane Helms is coming back? Was there a return promo on SD? That RULES if so. I loved the Hurricane.

Speaking of Hardy's "extracurricular activities", he was ******ed off a plane in Nashville after this week's SD tapings. Seems like it's nothing major, as Matt Hardy posted a blog that didn't mention it and mentioned the meal he had with Jeff and his girlfriend once they got home from Nashville, but there's still no details of why, or what happened. Let's hope it's nothing that could jeopardise Jeff's future.

EDIT: Just this minute read that he was denied access to the plane because he was drunk, and caught a later flight. There was no arrest made, and this is something that's happened to a million wrestlers in the past, and countless regular people as well, no doubt. It's a strange rule, given that they serve alcohol on planes. Shouldn't hurt his career at all.

Don't want to ruin anything but expect Helms to pop-up a couple of times during SD! this week. So chuffed to have him back. I know it's a pipe dream but I long for him to return to his glory days where he was doing this kind of thing

EDIT: This is probably a better Rock v Hurricane clip. Loved the Brendan Frasier put down

As for Hardy, what he did was a bit silly and probably didn't deserve punishment but I can't help that MVP is being given a punishment that doesn't suit the crime with regards to his misdemeanour. WWE needs a clear benchmark as far as expectations go and from what I see there is some inconsistency in how things work when disciplining employees.

Hahaha. I miss The Rock so much. :(

But Hurricane Helms being back? That is all kinds of awesome. One of those mid-card guys who I genuinely mark out for. Delighted I'll get to see him back in action at the SmackDown show in London in November. Tickets arrived today. I'm pumped. :)

Only been following WWE for a month or two now, but I've really been enjoying it, some of the feuds and etc have been fun to watch, and I take it from some of the comments in this thread that its been a good period for the shows.

I'm getting a good handle of all the wrestlers and their personalities, gimmicks etc, although, are there any other good wrestlers still on the roster who are out injured atm who I should be looking forward to a return of?

Edge. Even though technically he's on vacation. The shows just aren't as good without him.

You know what, as much as I miss the "glory days" of the attitude era, I reckon it's only a matter of time before we get another special talent who has the ability to transcend all forms of media and all walks of life and to make wrestling an in thing again.

Hogan did it in the 80's and we were fortunate enough to have Bret and HBK carry the can mid 90's keeping the seat warm for Austin and The Rock to turn up and succeed Hogan. They don't come along often but I can't help but feel we're due another guy like that somewhere along the line. Cena had the potential to be that guy but was amrketed as a lamer by WWE in his in-ring gimmick and had his album neutered to be family friendly which in turn killed his rap credibility but he's as close as we have right now.

It wasn't that Cena's gimmick was watered down which caused the uproar against him. It was the fact that in 2005, 2006 and 2007, he went over in every single PPV match he was in. Watching Raw and WWE PPV's really were a foregone conclusion back in those days.

With the cult following guys the likes of Jericho, Christian and Angle had and with Cena easily defeating all of those guys, it just left a bad taste. I feel that was one of the biggest factors in Cena losing his support with the people. He was effectively Superman and that got old fast. He became a lot more likeable when he lost the WWE Championship.

Agree with this, also add Cena to that list too and Orton when he comes back to fully capacity.

Onto SD! today, really loving the way they've booked Koslov. He looks like a genuine monster out there and if pushed correctly could be the new Iron Sheik.

Also hope they could do more with DH Smith and Colt Cabana who are massive talents.

I meant in a mainstream sense, but you're right about smarks not liking people being pushed down their throats over guys who are better workers.

Kozlov could be a Russian Brock Lesnar. I think Kozlov also has an Amateur Wrestling background like Lesnar, but I'm not too sure. Regardless, Kozlov has definitely impressed and a program with Triple H could be pretty good for him.

I guess in mainstream as well, nobody likes to be able to predict the outcome of a match every single time. If a casual fan is saying 'Oh yeah, Cena's going to win, same old, same old' then really that's not what you want in a wrestling product. It's different for smart fans, because they understand the business and can often pick winners comfortably.

But you have a problem when your mainstream audience starts thinking that your WWE Championship match featuring John Cena is going to be a foregone conclusion, which it often was in 2006 and 2007.

The best thing that WWE did with The Rock and Stone Cold was to give them that sense of vulnerability. The Rock would often get destroyed by the likes of Undertaker, Triple H and Kurt Angle and the heel would often get the last laugh. This only made their fan base bigger as people like to see that yeah, this guy lost but came back and won the gold again.

As I've mentioned, Cena's become a lot more likeable without the belt and now that he's such a huge star he doesn't really need the belt at this point in his career. Although one could argue that as soon as he comes back from injury, he'll be put in a title match.

Going back to Barney's point about Helms strengthening the midcard, back in the day they had a ridiculously strong midcard with guys who could cut hilarious promos like this.. Then you had the Goldust stalking Booker T angle which was incredible.

Hell the midcard was packed with quality back then while now there's a huge gap between the ME and upper mid carders and the rest. WWE needs to commit to a slow but proper build of a lot of people to ge tback to anywhere near that.

EDIT: Part 2 of the stalking angle is hilarity

Hahaha, how did I miss that angle? That is brilliant. I've always thought Booker T was at his best when he's doing comedy - at least, that's the only side of him I've ever really enjoyed.

Just watching SmackDown now. Random thoughts:

- I hate this Vickie/Big Show angle. Show was just starting to get his teeth into his face role, they could have had a great feud between him and Kozlov or him and the soon-to-return Umaga. He's dull as a heel.
- Jeff really had some fire in his promo work this week, was impressed. Think the possibility of a title reign in the future is proving quite the carrot for him.
- Shelton losing to R-Truth is a weird one. I guess they want to push a feud whilst keeping R-Truth undefeated. Reckon there's a chance Truth might snag the title next week or the week after.
- HELMS!!! The little in-screen bubble after that match filled me with hope - firstly because (despite recent world events) he called himself "Hurricane" Helms, and secondly because he ripped on Shelton, saying "the price of gold has fallen". This could mean he's coming back as a face, which would be seven shades of awesome. I was convinced they'd bring him back as the generic heel he played when he was last around. (Added in later)The second little bubble, ripping on Hawkins and Ryder, pretty much confirms he's back as a face, with the catchphrase, "I'm just sayin'...". Awesome. :)
- Carlito's (and Primo's) Cabana! Always good fun. "This is my show, don't steal my lines!" "I thought I was co-hosting?" "No, you're the special guest..." Hawkins and Ryder being laughed at was kind of appropriate, given that they're a total joke. They have to bring up Edge and La Familia to get any heat at all. Carlito and Primo joking about them in Spanish was amusing, the brothers could have a lot of comic potential. Oh, and for the record, I think they're winning the titles next week when they get their shot. People care more about the guys who've been a team two weeks than they do about Curt and Zack. Incidentally, people care more about Jesse & Festus than either of them.
- Scotty Goldman (a.k.a. Colt Cabana), is weirdly hilarious. I hope he keeps up these zany little promo things, it at least makes him not seem like a total jobber.
- Kozlov vs Khali will be very interesting indeed. I'd love to see Kozlov do something superhuman to Khali, in the Lesnar mould. Would really put him over.
- Speaking of which, Kozlov laying out Triple H bodes well. Can see the main event of No Mercy being changed to a Triple Threat, especially with a heel GM and Cyber Sunday coming up afterwards, which means they'll struggle to get a heel challenger for Triple H there.

All in all, good show. SmackDown is consistently better than RAW these days, and that's without Edge even in the equation. RAW is in danger of becoming too focused on Jericho and HBK - despite how awesome that is, they do need to start dedicating some screen time to some more feuds.
