Broad and especially Bopara have both been around too long for me to think they deserve it much, Davies also pretty much, Denly and Clare haven't really done all that much, Dawson has barely played first-team cricket. So really it has to be Woakes for mine. No contest.7 players nominated for Young Cricketer of the Year
Stuart Broad, Ravi Bopara, Joe Denly, Jonathan Clare, Liam Dawson, Steven Davies and Chris Woakes.
Grant Flower would do really well to retire at the end of this season now, two notable big one-day knocks. Couldn't go out in a better way. What a great win that was for Essex today, and without Kaneria too, that was a real bonus. I didn't give us a chance when Ravi and Jason were just knocking it around, there wasn't anyone in form who could keep it consistently going at 9 rpo. Grant Flower though, what a legend, Kent must be sick of the sight of him. If only Andy was still playing, it'd be us in Antigua.
He's had a fair amount of injuries I believe. Old age catching up with him. Still a great performer when fit though.Grant Flower would do really well to retire at the end of this season now, two notable big one-day knocks. Couldn't go out in a better way.
BTW does anyone know why on Earth Azhar Mahmood has played so little Championship cricket for Kent this season? If he hasn't been injured lots it seems inexplicable he's only played 6 games so far as his performances with bat and ball have been outstanding.
What, should he have been sent to Durham to see if he could do even worse than Philip Mustard?Oh and well done Gazzard for steering zummerset to victory, always feel he's been treated unfarly by the club, TBH.
I think Sam Spurway was treated worse- at least Gazzard still has a contract. Spurway did little wrong during his short career, and then they brought in Kieswetter.Oh and well done Gazzard for steering zummerset to victory, always feel he's been treated unfarly by the club, TBH.
Yeah, good point actually, would be happy with both of them there, rather then another kolpak.I think Sam Spurway was treated worse- at least Gazzard still has a contract. Spurway did little wrong during his short career, and then they brought in Kieswetter.
There's an agreement with sponsors. Breaking that would require substantial compensation. And there'd be little to gain by doing so.What will be the point in playing Pro40 next year? If it's already a given that there will no more Pro40 after next season?
Yeah obviously so many people have said Ealham bowling at the death is such a great idea haven't they?
