Smackdown was awesome this week. Just goes to show you that when a company puts faith in some of it's younger, enthusiastic and driven talent then the show quality just goes up enormously.Holy ****. Hardy and HHH shooting on each other to start Smackdown was hilarious. All the smarks out there loved it but most of the crowd had no idea what was going on. Calling out Kliq, DX, Vince and Stephanie and then Hunter calling out Jeff's "extra-curricular activities." Wrestling needs more of these types of promo's. That was funny.
Damn you guys, being able to watch SmackDown before anyone else! I've probably got at least another six hours to wait, probably longer until tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing all this, though, sounds very interesting. I do like it when Hunter shoots on people - firstly, it's usually pretty funny, and secondly, it often can serve to motivate some of the younger guys. I think this, plus MVP's utter destruction of Jeff on the mic the other week are part of an attempt to get Jeff to buck his ideas up.Smackdown was awesome this week. The worked shoot promo at the start kicked things off nicely. Seeing both Hunter and Jeff call each other out was pretty damn entertaining and I liked all the segments where Hunter humorously tried to get in the head of all the competitors in the fatal four say. Hunter has always been more entertaining when he's funny and allowed to crack a few jokes here and there rather than his other boring 'I am The Game' schtick that he does.
The wrestling matches were pretty solid throughout. Even though it ended in a DQ finish, R-Truth vs Chavo was a good short match. R-Truth has everything it takes for him to be a star, lets hope he keeps getting better. You could tell that he's already starting to get over with the WWE crowd.
Great to see Carlito back as well and man does he look a lot thinner than he was before! You could swear that Carlito was on the juice before as he looked completely different to what he looked like some time back. Both the Colon brothers were very impressive and Primo looks to have some pretty good athletic ability.
The fatal four way match at the end was brilliant. One of the best TV matches of this year and kudos to all the four participants. When you get four guys who have the amount of in ring talent that Shelton, MVP, Hardy and Kendrick have then you are bound to get a great match. Great spots, good psychology with Kendrick sneaking in and out of the ring and picking his spots and a great surge by Hardy at the end made it a stand out match.
Was delighted to see how strong Shelton Benjamin was booked in the match. He came off looking like an absolute monster and one of the strongest wrestlers in the company. Surely he must be in line soon to challenge for the World Title.
Thankfully the days of technically deficient wrestlers such as Batista and Khali headlining PPV Main Events are somewhat over. It's so good to see WWE pushing young, smaller, hungry and technically sound wrestlers in the Main Event. The shows are stronger, the matches are stronger and the people are excited to see new fresh faces in the Main Event.
-Truth continues to impress and shocked to see how hot the crowd was for him. Hate to bring race into it but Milwaukeee is one of the least likely in the US to be into his gimmick but they went wild when he made his way to the ring. Would love to see the reactions he'd get in Tennesee, NY or California. Also chuffed to see Chavo getting proper airtime on SD!. If anything their match slightly disappointed me because give them the time and they'd give you a barnburner better than what we saw from ReyRey/Evan on RAW.The wrestling matches were pretty solid throughout. You guys still get RAW before us! But yeah, good show very impressed with the directions their taking on both shows. Very watchable programming right now.Damn you guys, being able to watch SmackDown before anyone else! I've probably got at least another six hours to wait, probably longer until tomorrow. Just watching it myself. Fantastic. I like that they're having Triple H act as a motivator for the younger guys on SmackDown, even shooting on them a little at times like this. The seeds of Hunter turning heel to prevent Jeff from taking his title have already been planted, and I'm already very interested in this angle. Looking forward to where it goes.Just caught the exchange between Jeff and Hunter, awesome promo.
Haha, that's pretty funny. It's a tiny error which plenty of guys have made before (Batista on RAW when he and Cena won the tag belts, for one) so hopefully they don't come down unnecessarily hard on him for this like they did on MVP for ragging on the drug test doctors.Lol @ Shelton walking down to the ring at the Smackdown tapings the other night with the US title upside down, apparently they edited it out for what actually went out on TV and used some archive footage.
TNA No Surrender was on today. Haven't managed to watch the show myself but quickly scanned through the results. TNA would be awesome if there was less gimmick matches. Samoa Joe expectedly retained his TNA World Heavyweight Championship and sadly Booker T couldn't make out of Houston, Texas and couldn't attend the show due to Hurricane IkeWatched this weeks Impact! tonight, decent show tbh, such a shame that they overbook things...as it's the one thing that is really stopping me from getting into it tbh, all these overly complicated stipulations on their matches just make it too much of an effort to really appreciate what is going on, sounds lazy on my part, but I guess that's what 10+ years of watching WWE does to you...still, looks like Mick Foley is now set to debut at No Surrender. As Samoa Joe has said to Sting "I won't be coming alone" I wouldn't be at all surprised if Foley shows up as to make a save on his behalf, or maybe make the save for Sting.
Don't worry, in the unfortunate event of this happening he will probably get injured walking to the ring and get released. We can but hope that he doesn't end up back in the WWE, with all the work they have done pushing the young guys having Nash walk back in (and no doubt straight to the top of the card) would ruin everything.Apparently Kane and Rey Rey have been having barnburning Nodq matches at house shows recently. Really looking forward to the blowoff for this now.
And ugh, rumours abound of a Kevin Nash return to the WWE instigated by HBK. Good god no, please no, never ever happen please god no.
