Yeah, fully agreed. I think it's fair to say that the general standard of CW has dropped over the last few months and there's been a fair amount of posts and threads that are nothing short of disgraceful. It really takes the shine off a highly anticipated tour like this if you can't come on CW and discuss the cricket without having to read through petty arguments, trolling and general rubbish posting.
Tbf Off Topic and General Sports is still loadsa fun. Nothing's really happened of note in CC.

I don't think it should be based on averages, really. If he looks good but gets out for whatever reason then I'd have no issues with him staying even if his average for the series was, say 30. If he looks horrible like Dravid has been at times recently, then you'd start the discussion, IMO.
I agree to the point, but Tendulkar looked fairly comfortable in Sri Lanka till he got out in majority of the innings. For me, what matters is whether he can manage to stay at the crease and add runs to the board, and really don't give a damn how they come. But with Tendulkar, if they do come, they come generally in a nice fashion.

As to Dravid, this tour could be the proverbial last straw. Literal Do or die for him. He has been averaging around 30 for the last two years, and is just hanging on by his reputation. I think even a couple of bad tests and it could be curtains mid-tournament for him.

I wouldn't be suprised if Dravid isn't even picked for the series, tbh.
I don't think that would happen, if that does than it would be cruel. (yeah some bias is aso there in those lines being a Dravid fan)
Anyways i think this would be the last series for Laxman, Dravid and Ganguly, if they aren't able to perform in this series, then the axe would fall on them, so the pressure is going to be on them since the very start of the series as they would be playing to save their spots in the team, and that could work to Australia' advantage in a way.

I don't think selectors will wait till the end of the series...think 2 testes is all they will get in case they fail, before heads start rolling.

I am eager for this series to start. It's some proper Cricket (not Bangladeshi's) and will test Australia. I wonder who will support Lee and Clark this season? I hope Johnson gets dropped for Bollinger or Noffke in the Tests, but remains in the ODI's.

Overall this should be a good series, and will be equally contested between bat and ball. Good luck Australia.

If none of the fab 4 do well in the first 2 test matches, then the chances are Australia would win those test matches, so do you really expect some greenhorn to come into the third test and step into their shoes and perform under that sort of pressure, i am not saying the new guy coming in just won't be able to perform, but the chances of something like that happening is very bleak.

Clarke as in Michael? Going by past performances against Indian, he'd be giving advice, than taking!
You know, i'd completely forgotten about his incredible 16th-test-in-a-row winning bowling. It's depressing how controversy disguised how awesome a match that was.

If Australia think clarke's performance was anything other than a fluik than God help them!!It could be a very long series indeed.

Will be boycotting this thread for sure. Maybe not if Bracken is selected for a Test. But only maybe.

Yep, that and the Mumbai 04 match which we won. Though i wouldn't be stupid to suggest that we would've 'won' the Sydney test but for all that crap. Surely, those ugly stuff removed (including umpirin), it was a thrilling end. Funny how Ishant emulated Clarke by standing for umpire's verdict after edging to first slip.

I'm excited for this series and for reading the thread, but seriously, can we not just put a blanket ban on talking about the Sydney Test, Symonds-Harbhajan, etc.? Or at least a seperate thread for it?

I don't think he is expecting to repeat his 6-9 exploits this time around, he is only working on chipping in with a few handy overs now and again, to give the frontline bowlers a bit more of respite.
