***Official*** Australia A and New Zealand A in India

Great performance by an Indian A side whose attack is largely comprised of novices

As for those advocating that the senior Australian team should go with all pace

That would ensure spinning wickets and potentially massive defeats
Yep, calls would've gone to that curator surely tonight.

BTW, in case the Indians get Australians all out within 134, should they Opt for follow on? Will be tricky decision to take as captain for Badrinath. On one hand, he might want to give the batsmen one more chance, thereby including himself, to prove, at the cost of a draw. On the other hand, a rare chance of an outright probably even innings victory over Australian A side, which will be very satisfying as cap.
I think he'll opt for the former, as there is every chance that one of the Aussie bat will find some form and block the entire day tomorrow.

Terrible day for Australia.

Very happy to see George Bailey stick around though. Australia A are one batter too short IMO.

In the immediate term re. the future of the senior team, this tour really needs to be about the bowlers who are pushing (hopefully) to support Lee and Clark.

Go Dougie.

Bailey is a tremendous talent and i hope he raises his game a level this season and seriously pushes for an international berth, btw i don't think Aussie A tours are too much about winning these days, its more about giving as many promising players a chance of playing i different conditions, so having a well balanced playing XI is not on the top of their agenda.

Would love to see Bracken get a gig as the 4th seamer. Could strike gold with his cutters if India decide to prepare dustbowls.

Yeah I guess you are right, still I'd rather see our A Team doing well against other countries.

Dammit, Badri opts for follow on! WTF? He should have tried to cement his test spot by batting again! Who really cares for a result in these games?

Good decision for the team though really, the bowlers were on a roll and Australia's only spinners to bowl in the fourth innings are Katich, North & Voges.

Apart from Katich, a lot of the guys who would probably be next in line for test batting slots are in the ODIs I guess. Marsh, Dave Hussey and Watson above any of the guys in India?

I know Johnson has bowled some disappointing spells of late but I still maintain that he has the most potential of all the Aussie bowlers I have seen other than Lee and Clark.

And I personally feel he may well trouble India more so than Noffke or Bollinger.
People should know he is not a kid that we are talking about potential he is in his best fast bowling years,at peak of his pace

johnson will do well in india as his bowling style suits the pitches here ,he will hit the deck hard and trouble ganguly, gambhir the lefthanders but right handers he is going to find it hard.

By doing well i mean compared with others mentioned likes of nofke or bracken,

Many people are saying australia should play a 4 man pace attack, which would be a
huge mistake as with no seamer with experience of indian conditions in tests and
just 2 wicket taking fast bowlers, any decent spinner should be better choice as
in turning tracks any spinner can do the job.

edit-clark also will find it hard as he did in bangladesh so spinner is must.

Mohnish Parmar seems to a Gun. Wonder whether he will pip Piyush to get a test call up?

Ah well, made his debut only last season. And straight-away became 8th highest wicket taker despite playing just 7 matches. All the 7 guys above him had played atleast 2 more matches, and 7 guys below him too had played more matches than him!! And yet he wasn't selected for the Duleep!!! :@

2nd best average last season, (over 25 wickets).

Gun guy!

He is a Murali clone and the Aussies have no clue which way the ball will turn. It seems they had no idea that he bowled what he does - a mix of Murali-like wrist spun off breaks and doosras.

Yes he has. When he played in the under 19 world cup, ICC asked for him to be sent for correction on his bowling action.

There is no way you can bowl the doosra and not have a 'problem' but Mr Gavaskar led technical committee has left enough loopholes for this to never be a real issue in the future.

Go ahead and bowl as you want :)

North and Katich seem to br steadying the ship at the moment, Katich also not doing his selection chances any harm with knocks like these. Hughes also seemed to have played a decent knock, second time around, this kid surely is making rapid strides, he could be Australia' next child prodigy after Clarke.
