wtf. I'm pretty sure what they're saying is that he played through the pain for 'pool on the weekend, maybe even making it worse, knowing he would miss more games because of it.
He had to get the small operation some time, and he's chosen to do it just before the England matches which evidently mean less to him. Nothing to write home about.

Fellas please don't let your frustration over the national side corrupt your thinking..
Who has done that, exactly? And what are you basing that on?

Anyway, wrt Gerrard, frankly I don't have a problem with it as it looks like, as a result, he's going to miss the game with United. I do think he was prioritising club over country, the evidence would suggest that, however I really don't blame him for that, as I've said for me personally club > country anyway. Still, don't let me interrupt your Gerrard hate - he does, after all, play for Liverpool.

No, nobody said anything along those lines
What?, the comments by some below clearly show that Gerrard is being attacked as club over country man, coming up with some very shocking but funny theories of why that is as well...

So yes many here are letting frustration over the performances of the national side corrupt their thinking.

**** off then you scouse ****, you're ****e for England anyway..

hmmm

Interesting story, and shows what Stevies priorities are, imho.

Sounds like instead of having the op straight away (which would probably be best for his long term fitness) they deliberately timed it so he'd miss England games rather then Liverpool ones.

'Gerrard played through the pain barrier on Wednesday to help Liverpool into the Champions League group stage.'

Will play through the pain for Liverpool but not for England. Doesn't matter anyway he's **** in an England shirt.

Hey, it was just me really, tbh.

and as I've already explained it's indicative of what's going wrong with the countries football team, imho.

So yes the fact that we're ****ing dog-****e, and the most over-rated bunch of ****ing wankers to have ever pulled on the three lions, and seem to be much better in club colours has clouded my judgement a tad, aussie.

I apologise unreservedly, because this argument is getting terminally dull, so I do wish I'd never posted it, tbh.

Edit: oh yeah, Mattehs right I never suggested that, but quite frankly I'd rather it all be left alone now.....

But none of those comments suggest anything like what you said:

Aussie said:
Hold up, So you blokes honestly believe that Gerrard deliberaty aggravated his injury on ENG duty, so he can miss upcoming qualifiers?
Couple saying he's **** for England, some pointing out that he'll play through pain for Liverpool but not for England and one furthering that by suggesting the timing of the op means he'll be better off for Liverpool than for England. None of them suggest he deliberately aggravated his injury on England duty to miss future England games.

Mr.Grecian as he just said, then to see a few off few follow up with similar comments i gathered that was the general feeling but if thats not the case thats much better.

Gerrard hate haha.

Unlike you guys its cricket>football for me. Plus i don't have this complex that i see with you caucasian blokes (nothing racial intended) where you guys have such passion for the clubs you support & players but not the national side.

Gerrad yea he is plays for liverpool United biggest rivals but fact is he is an English player & along with many others i want to see him do well & ENG to win something, since for me with football it is country>>>>club. England winning something in my lifetime would be wayyyyyyyy better than United dominating the premiership every season..

The only real surprise with this story is that it hadn't happened already.

Was never, ever going to make it at Old Trafford (IMHO of course).
Looking forward to Xavier's take on why Dong never made it without using the phrases "lack of talent", "China", "replica shirts", "market" or "David Bellion".
Just couldn't make the grade. Had some promise but he didn't improve sufficiently. No different to countless other young players. And Nike is the one who makes money from shirt sales with Man Utd being paid a set amount for Nike to get those rights. Also, Asia is known to have a thriving fake merchandise industry so if anything more of those shirts would be sold over the genuine ones.

Mildly irked I couldn't find a telly channel that was carrying the Citeh game, love a good shoot-out, me. Was devasted when Cowt shinned that one against Liege last night, the tie owed us penalties really.

Anyway, the Gerrard injury has done us a favour IMHO. At least Capello now can't play him & Fat Frank together.

How is being passionate about club but less so about country a white/black divide? Worst comment.

Group A: CHELSEA, AS Roma, Bordeaux, Cluj
Group B: Inter, Werder, Panathinaikos, Anorthosis
Group C: Barcelona, Sporting, FC Basel, Shakhtar
Group D: LIVERPOOL, PSV, Marseille, Atletico
Group E: MAN UTD, Villarreal, CELTIC, Aalborg
Group F: Lyon, Bayern, Steaua, Fiorentina
Group G: ARSENAL, FC Porto, Fenerbahce, Dinamo Kiev
