AWTA.

SAF was quoted last season as saying they are not in the business of selling their players to their rivals, with the whole Gabriel Heinze saga.
Apparently Silvestre is a free agent, only realised this morning that he was released by Man Utd at the end of last season. Which makes this potential deal not the worst thing in the world, as he is free he could be a reasonable buy (fingers crossed), wouldn't be happy if Arsenal shelled out a lot of money for him, but on a free....hopefully could turn out ok. But my opinion of him throughout his Man Utd career was that most of the time he was solid enough without ever being really good, but prone to bouts of being extremely dodgy...

I'll be the first to admit I had no idea he was given the arse by MU. A 31 year old defender, so you will get max. 2 good years out of him.

Mikael Silvestre's wikipedia page considers him an Arsenal player, even though I haven't seen anything yet.

Rumour is that he is being signed as backup for Clichy, which is fair enough, as he could do a decent enough job on and off I imagine, and tbh I rate Silvestre higher than the oafish Senderos, but then that isn't exactly saying much. If all the team is fit neither Silvestre nor Senderos should be in the starting line up for Arsenal, should be something like.

Almunia

Sagna Toure Gallas Clichy

Walcott Cesc Diaby Rosicky

V.Persie

Adebayor

Could do with another CM really.

Saw a story on the BBC that Joaquin might be available for around £9m and Blackburn being one of the teams that are interested. I never knew he went down hill that quickly!

In FM08 he moves to Arsenal for £27m.

It's not him, it's Valencia. They kept both Silva and Villa, and even gave Silva a fat contract which probably has a huge bonus. They're screwed financially.

Yeah, the fact that they heaped out **** loads of cash on their new stadium and tyhen failed to qualify for the champions league means that they are really in dire straits, surprised they have managed to keep as many players as they have tbh.

 It will be the making of him. Rovers have form for turning talented players careers around (see Benni, Roquel...).

Anyhow, good result from the boys. They should make it two out of two on the weekend.

manutd.com's papers page has that rumour quoted and then makes note that Silvestre has one year left on his contract.

The Independent says we're trying to "hijack" Silvestre's move. As we've punted Hoyte to Boro it's plausible from that point of view, but would imagine Siralex would be happier to flog him to Sunderland or even Citeh.

Anyway, we play the Czechs tonight. Hard to recall an England game I've cared less about TBH. Couldn't even watch it live if I was arsed as our friendlies are now on Sultana.
