how much rest should i have?

Hello
im a fourteen year old fast bowler.
two weeks ago i fell hard on my back and bruised a back muscle near my spine on my left side im a right arm fast bowler by the way. its hurts when i bowl and it really does aggrivate the muscle im currently on pain killers but that only get a tiny bit of the pain away so when i bowling it hurts. but only when i bowl it hurts in no other activities or normal life it hurts just when im bowling so i dont think its that bad it proberly just needs abit of rest

im wondering how much rest i should i have to let it heal im saying a week what do you guys think. The problem is this is the british summer and my 6 week holiday and once thats over its winter and my practice goes pretty much apart from indoor nets every week. So i need as much practice in these next 4 weeks as i can get.

how long would you rest?

Go see a doctor to be on the safe side, but I pretty sure the pain come because off all the secondary movements from the left side of your body (Arms, Back etc) in your action.

If it doesn't get better in a week definitely go see a doctor

Don't mess around with backs. Don't bowl more than a couple of balls until you're free of pain - you're 14 after all - no point aggravating it now - and go to a specialist if it doesn't calm down.

Did you ask him specifically what sort of recovery time you're looking at? And what physical activity is okay whilst recovering?

Go see a doctor. If he doesnt know how long you should rest then go see a different doctor.

However, a sports physio may be a better idea as frankly GPs cant know everything and their knowledge of sports is slim.

However, best bet is to ask someone that is paid to make these sort of decisions rather than guys on a forum.

I know it is bad for you having to wait that long but it is better than fricking up your back completely and never playing well again aye.

I sometimes think that some other people on this website need to see a doctor, and/or have a very very long rest.

If I were you, I would see a doctor but avoid, at all costs, bearded Bosnian Serbs practising alternative medicine.

I shall resist the obvious riposte to that Mr Z

... and dont think I haven't noted your picking on a 14 year old Lancastrian fast bowler!
