Absolutely - especially the Dutch to turn around their recent poor form. All the best against the Test nations in the WC.

Spot on. After losses to Denmark and Italy in the 50-over format recently, I didn't think they'd qualify. Having RTD around makes a big difference of course, but still.

It seems the Dutch have really turned into the cricket equivalent of the Germans in football-always finding a way through where it matters

From Kenya's point of view, what an appalling performance. Terrible batting all round with the sole exception of the one innings by Kennedy Obuya against Canada. Bowling was on the whole good (probably aided by the pitch), though why on Earth was Suji was bowled instead of Varaiya in the semi final?! Insanity.
I felt right throughout the tournament Kenya's XI was too bowler heavy and it resulted in poor scoring rates and at least one specialist bowler ending up as a passenger in the teams (Suji against the Dutch, Varaiya against Ireland being good examples). I still do not know why they rested/dropped Collins Obuya when he is probably the most wideley experienced Kenyan in the T20 format.

Kenya are really going to have to do some major improving before the IC match against Scotland this weekend. Hopefully there will be a rethink in the starting XI as well. Not a good first up result from Kirsten as coach. :@
I reckon the strength of the bowling they will give the Scots a good run for their money though my biggest concern for the Intercontinental Cup match is the weather undermining a result.

Excellent work. Time to get tickets for next year methinks.
Most defenitely!

Dead rubber :p
Well, it's being washed out right now, but afaik, the result matters to determine in which group we will end. The winner will take over Zimbabwe's place (and thus play India and Bangladesh at Trent Bridge), whereas the runner up will face England at Lord's.

If Zimbabwe will attend the WC-T20 (still a possibiltity, right?), the winner will play at Lord's. The Scots will then be refused to pass their southern border  .

I don't get it. They've called the match a draw after abandoning it and Ireland and Holland share the trophy.

So, what does this mean for the gropuings for the World Twenty20.

Noone in Ireland will be complaining if we're drawn to play England at Lord's.

It will almost certainly be done on World Rankings.

Ireland will play Bangladesh and India in Group A and Holland will play England and Pakistan in Group B

This is all still pending on Zimbabwe, Confirming that they're not attending ... I still have a yucky feeling that ZCU will do something stupid

The logical thing to do, since Ireland ranks above us in the T20.

Well, this means I should search for tickets for an England-Holland game at Lord's! That's a bit exciting, TBH!

Nah, Associate 2 was moved to Group B when Zimbabwe withdrew in favour of Associate 1. Associate 3 (Scotland) thus came into New Zealand's group.

Bloody hell...if that's true it's the opening ceremony plus the England- Holland legendary humiliation. Tickets start at 110 GBP, readily available for 300...<cough>.

Although it would be more logical if Ireland are AM1 and end up playing at Lord's. Wouldn't mind that, actually. Not too keen on Lord's myself.

EDIT: <coin drops>. Right, this is also because of the Zimbabwe withdrawal, right? AM1 becomes AM2, and yup, that's us. Bloody bloody hell. OK, who's gonna join me in June at Lord's?

Id make it an ICC rule that no country was eligible for any WC unless games were televised in at least highlight format.

means England won't be availeble in your view Goughy...since sky is for paying viewers...
I can get sky in holland...so yeah isn't really fair...

@ Stools...apperently all games are sold out and the KNCB doesn't have any tickets assigned to them, they are going to make a case out of it against the ICC because they feel they deserve tickets...which we do

Well yeah, it's impossible to get tickets through the official tournament website.

However, there are loads of tickets still available through the re-sellers, starting at 110 GBP.

I will wait until it's totally clear which group we end up in, and then I'll splash the cash.

When you factor in the total incomeptence of the Dutch administration, the total disregard that the BCCI...oohh, sorry, ICC...has for Associate members, and the murky waters of big money it would not surprise me in the least if there was no way of getting tickets as a Dutch fan through the official site.

And even if the Dutch adminsitration manages to secure tickets they will probably offer them in some package including corporate bull****ting around, expensive flights and what have you.
