Strauss would be the best captain but I'm strongly against picking someone who doesn't have a definite place in the side for the next twelve months. Went Freddie tentatively.

Which isn't hard when Pakistan play virtually a whole test series without about 9 of their first choice bowlers.
3 more like - Shoaib, Shabbir and Mohd Asif. And let's remember how many first-choice players England were without.

BTW, FFS can't someone ban this Napier16 already? Even if there's no IP-addle proof that he's SW\BLE, isn't it pretty blatant he is?

Not these days, no, but things were different in 2006. And I always thought Shabbir received more criticism than he deserved TBH.

I dont know what else he was criticised for but he didnt get enough IMO for his action. One of the most blatent and horrid actions I have ever seen.

That's the point, though - it wasn't always. There were plenty of occasions when it was juuuuuuuuuuust fine.

Yes, there were also occasions when it was blatantly illegal and on such occasions it was quite cringeworthy to watch him bowl, almost as bad as Ruchira Perera at Lord's in 2002. But these occasions were in a minority.

His IP matches someone else though, so we're looking into the matter deeper. I'd appreciate if you stopped posting about it repeatedly in the mean time, thanks.

For me, the option is obvious.......Andrew Strauss. He is a decent batsmen, and despite going through a rough patch not too long ago, I'd say he has recovered and is the man for the job. Picking Pietersen would be dire, and it would affect his batting. He is not a thinker, and would totally destroy the England team, and anny hope of winning the 2009 Ahses. What's gay is, he has been chosen.

Putting Robert Key up there is an outragous idea, considering he hasn't played a Test match since 2005 IIRC. I don't find it sucessful to appoint someone to just walk into a national side as captain.
