Feel much the same. Thoroughly looking forward to Darlington. Have booked first-class train tickets to get me there a week tomorrow - optimism leads me to believe our beautiful total football gives us a chance to make League One for 2009...
Darlington have one the nicest grounds in the lower leagues a 25,000 capacity all seater however when you only get 3,500 - 4,000 attendances it is an understatement to say it struggles to generate an atmosphere:laugh:

We took about 4,000 when we thrashed them 3 - 0 the year before last but even then it lacked atmosphere.:@

Got my season ticket today, promised myself I wouldn't after last years **** end to the season the lack of activity in the transfer market during the summer. However couldn't resist after they put on deal for existing season ticket holders so only cost 207.00.

One alarming fact is that they have changed the pie supplier from a local company (which have been voted best pies in the football league) to Pukka Pies and I'm not impressed. Had a pukka pie during the pre season game against the mags and there was no meat there. I don't known what the European Union guidelines for minimum meat content in pies are but I'd have a bet these didn't conform it was all pastry so not a good start to the season.

Must've been the second semi then. Saw two Exeter games in a short space of time, has moulded into one.
Yeah it was:

tee-hee

So amusing that's still up on their live-text thingamijig:laugh:

Yes, it was an odd decision, but hey the subs all came on and scored, Bertie clearly tired the Torquay players out with his headless chicken approach so I'm calling it tactical genius myself......

Actually no, it's just that on United forums you're probably used to 95% of people being one-eyed idiots, same with all club forums. Only reason I bother with the Cafe is the 5% who are good value.
One I visit, which was formed out of the official United forum changing management and booting the moderators leaving the forum full of muppets and direction so the old mods and most of the regular people left, is pretty good. I'd say around 70% are one-eyed idiots.
Whatever the technicalities, we've still paid £32m in fees, even if some of it wasn't technically the transfer fee. That's quite a lot.
True.
Yeah, hence why the only place I ever discuss football online is either here, or on MSN, club forums as you say, are for the most part, not where you can find any sort of sensible discussion.
Nah I can find sensible discussion. Been involved in a discussion with someone calling Rooney average and being agreed with by some, while there was another which got kinda heated about Nani and Ronaldo and the usual debates about Saha re:his fitness.

What League are they in these days? Still giving us the whole "nobody likes us, we don't care" crap?
League One. So decent result for us.

There was apparently some trouble at the Hogs Head,(which is pretty pathetic for a friendly FFS) but it ain't like the good old days when they stormed the Cowshed. Thank ****. I was there, everything you heard about them was true.

*shudders*

Football has largely become civilised in England nowadays, except for the numpties who follow the national team.

Aye, they trashed the Clipper in the 06-07 season, it was raining glasses

Whites won our last friendly today. I gave it a miss :-O on the basis that I will be abandoning my young children enough over the next eight months and also to watch the cricket

Struggling to comprehend how a forum where well over half of the population are half-witted morons is "pretty good".

Looking forward to the football season, cricket is getting depressing. Well, watching it is anyway.

First month or so could be interesting for United with Ronaldo out, and Rooney & Saha under injury clouds.

Yeah, have a gut feeling we won't win the league tbh, nothing rational though tbh, when I look at it rationally, I think the league will be won by one of us or Chelsea.

Been a while since I looked at the fixtures, but I seem to remember it's quite a tough start, so that first month could be a bit dodgy, like last year.

Just hope we have them all back for the game against the Dips, can't remember when it is, though 23rd September rings a bell.

Yeah, well I'm a bit shocked about the throwing away of one of the more recognisable and traditional strips in the game. After all I'm old enough to remember when English blokes did play in the shirt.

Anyway, so far Arse playing pretty patterns and failing to make it count, really does feel like the new seasons about to start.

I wonder if Wilkshire will come on in the second half.

Whites signed a ton of players this summer. a couple of them from Liverpool. Dunno if half of them are any good, so natch, whites for the title, cool

We've confirmed Jason Lee, Gary Silk, Matt Somner, Alan O'Hare and Gavin Hurren in the last couple of days. Heard of Lee (obvz) and Silk, this season could go really well or absolutely shockingly.

Meant in terms of being biased. Wrong on my part.
