Italy beat Netherlands by 8 runs. God the biggest upset of the day & probably one of the biggest upsets in cricket history. Who could have expected this to happen before the match started?

Fair play to Italy. No disrespect to the Dutch at all, but nice to see the underdogs get up. :) Hope their proportion of Australian-Italians is low-ish tho.

Actually we have only two Aussies, Scuderi and Petricola, but we've improved the number of South Africans--- A. Northcote, N. Northcote, Bonora, Pennazza plus corbellari who is inavalible for this tournament :D

Holland working off their frustration today with a huge score against Norway. 335-3 with 13 overs still remaining. Darren Reekers 196 not out!

Ireland are 161-5 after 42.0 overs.
Target is 180 in 50 overs.
Current run rate is 3.83; required rate = 2.38.

Things not going as well as one thought.

Indeed ... Scotland beat Italy fairly comfortably, while Holland restored their pride with a 370-run crushing of Norway. Cricketeurope not giving the full card of that match yet, though.

Full card of the massacre here, if anyone's interested. Guess the bowler who took 4 for 87 off nine overs must have had mixed feelings.

Incidentally, does anyone know if matches between the leading Associates will be counted as full ODIs?

The matches between Ireland, Scotland & Netherlands are ODIs.

Good to see this happening - with so many matches between the leading Associates in the next few months there could potentially be quite a reshuffle in the pecking order.

What has been good so far with this tournament is the improving performances of Italy and Denmark - has to be good for the spread of the game. If only the ACA would get their act together and schedule a similar event in Africa.

Hmm, are Kenya & Namibia gonna play in this year's African Championship Div 1? Should be great if they do. Anyone have any idea when is that tournament scheduled?

HA!

This tournament has been rescheduled so many times it is not funny. If it were actually played, Kenya and Namibia would almost certainly be there. I'm pretty sure it would also get backing from Uganda, Tanzania and some of the other up and coming teams. Part of the trouble is getting SA and Zim to get behind it.

As to when it will be played, who knows - I wrote to the ACA about this not long ago and am waiting their reply...

Today's results

Italy 212 ao (Petricola 62*; M Hedegaard Andersen 4/30, Chawla 4/48)
Denmark 215/9 (49.5, L Hedegaard Andersen 47; Petricola 3/37)

nail-biter in other words. Reflects well on the teams' status I should think.

Netherlands 142 ao
Ireland 143/3

home soil + no RTD + Niall O'Brien

Norway 43 ao
Scotland 44/1

At present the population base to choose from is less than Bermuda. Leads to embarrassment. Would agree that Jersey wouldn't have been so poor.
