Then I calculated Global Average (GAvg), Global Er, Global SR at the mid point of the career of the player. That means if a player has played from 1980 to 1990, I found what were the average, ER and SR of all bowlers during those ten year period.

GER = 0.025 * (Starting year + End year) / 2 + 3.567
GAvg = 0.108 * (Starting year + End year) / 2 + 24.32
GSR = 0.431 * (Starting year + End year) / 2 + 59.45

Then Adjusted stats were made using following formula.

AER = Players ER / Global ER * 4.248 (i.e. Average ER in all ODIs)
AAvg = Player Avg / Global Avg * 27.209 (i.e. Mean of Averages in all ODIs)
ASR = Player SR / Global SR * 70.8 (i.e. Average SR in all ODIs)

Now that made sure that I have dealt with the increasing trend of bowling averages, strike rates and economy rates is properly dealt.

Then with above minor modifications, I ran the same query. Only matches against AUS, ENG, IND, NZ, PAK, SAF, SL, WI was considered.

The Qualification was 50 ODI wickets at least.

I don't wish to casts doubts over this formula but it appears to have calculated Len Pascoe at Number 1.

DoG's bowling ranking 'results' are thousand times better than Migara's...Though I have some issues with the batting ranking...

If I have been harsh with my words that was unintensional...I said I didn't like the 'result'...For example, according to your ranking MG Johnson is a better ODI bowler than 4 bowlers after him in the ranking...Now, I and most other members (and you too, I am sure) know while Johnson is a good ODI bowler, but from what he has achieved till now, he's quite far behind the 4 bowlers after him...This is just one example...

But one point you made is very much valid...Standardising results for different eras is very much needed for ODI ranking, be it batting or bowling...

Can you please explain to me how you get a formula in which a lower strike-rate/economy rate converts to greater points/value. How do you get Microsoft Excel to do that?

And, also, can you please give me details as to how to copy a list of players' stats from cricinfo and somehow paste it into Microsoft excel without having to spend hours adjusting the columns afterwards?
