Watching the Pro40 on Sky Sports and Surrey are bowling very well. Chris Jordan is reaffirming his place, at least to me, as one for the future - he is bowling at 85mph, give or take, and is rushing the batsmen. On the contrary, Dailrymple is on 0 off 14 balls.

And what do you know, Jordan gets Dailrymple out for 0 off 17 balls, LBW to an inseaming delivery.

Glamorgan have a decent total now after subsiding to a miserable 43 for 4. Surprised to learn this is Wallace's first one-day 50 - in his 120th match.

Dernbach getting some stick in the last over, as he often does - why Surrey think him a death bowler is beyond me.

Hahaha, Morton-esque.

Really was rather silly that Dalyrmple ever played ODI cricket, he's a much better batsman in the longer format.

Was it Schofield or Jordan that was injured BTW?

Haha really? Sheeeysh.

If Schofield's out for a while, does that increase Tom Jewell's chances of playing again this year?

Aren't Saqlain, Spriegel and Murtaza enough tweakers to be going on with? (I assume Saqi is fit and just sitting this one out).

And whatever happened to Ramps' s off-breaks, he wasn't the worst by any means. Saw him take five wickets at Lord's, no less.

Spriegel's a spinner too is he? A part-timer at best though.

Perhaps it'd be more pertinent to ask if Murtaza went down too (before any such time that Schofield may recover) then would Jewell be in line for a spot?

Well Jewell is fast-medium as it happens - I actually saw him bowl (briefly) in this match. Spriegel was on the other side then.

In fact, looking at that squad (26 names, too many surely?) would Simon King be the other reserve spinner? Don't really know anything about him.

To be fair, there are ten in the 20-23 age group (all young 'uns to me) although time is surely running out for the likes of Saker to nail down a first-team place. And we've just given a couple of games to batsman Jason Roy, who turned 18 only last week. Sending a young batsman out at number 9 with his side needing eight an over didn't look good, though.

Why Surrey offered him a new (two year?) contract is beyond me.

Saker and Dernbach - two of the worst bowlers you could wish to see at one county.

Surrey must be sick as pigs that they let Tim Murtagh go (IF they did - can't remember if he turned-down a new contract - if so they'll simply be sick at the fact he turned it down) seeing their dearth of post-Bicknell seamers and how Murtagh has gone this season.

The likes of Dernbach, Whelan, Andrew, Turner etc. being offered contracts not just with their first counties but with new ones, well after it's become clear that they're woefully substandard, truly does demonstrate what's wrong with county cricket. Tolerance of mediocrity. It's such a waste of money to give players so poor professional contracts.

BTW, you have to fear for the Bangladesh A side, if the wicket at New Road will be a good-'un. Even with Prince rested for Robin Peterson, SA's batting could well completely destroy their bowling, which hasn't exactly bothered county second-string teams yet anyway.

BTW, 12 wickets on debut for Imran Tahir. I hope he's down to play all the rest of the season?

Yorkshire 227-6 in pursuit of 403 vs Notts, making a better fist of it than they did in the first innings but still looking likely to lose. Sidebottom not playing I noticed, does that mean he won't be fit for the next Test, or was he told to rest? And what's happened to Craig White, has he retired? Haven't seen his name on the team sheet for a while now.

Yeah, good finish at OT - Hants needing 19 with 3 wickets remaining. Can't be many overs left now though.
