Sorry, no matter how many times I read this I can't make any sense of it.

The difficulty of fielding the ball does not rise with the quality of the batsman who hit it.
Well, I don't agree with his original point, but it is harder to field a good batsman, as he is more likely to find the gaps and therefore difficult to stop.

Yeah, in general, obviously. It doesn't apply to any one particular ball at any given moment though, and I'd argue that spectacular fielding as described by Arjun was actually more likely to happen against a good batsman than a poor one as he'd be more likely to hit the ball somewhere other than straight at you.

If I was fielding then straight at me would be the best bet, makes me more likely to panic

Let the ball roll through my legs in a knockabout last Friday, though tbf I was in hysterics at seeing my older brother bowl for the first time and the realisation that I wasn't the worst cricketer in my family

Worcs broadly getting a taste of their own medicine early this morn against Northants - Kabir Ali out for whatever reason (though Matthew Mason in for the first time this season - that's three big bowlers, in he, Richardson and Amjad Khan, who've missed practically the entire first half of the season injured) and van der Wath reducing them to 22 for 3.

Hick currently on the counter, mind. And why on Earth are Northants playing two wicketkeepers?

Let's ignore the Joyce part- how is Cork's fielding, otherwise?

Hmmm, looks like batting is tough going at Edgbaston. Kent 76/4 from 14.

Edit: Haha, then Stevens takes 22 off a Groenewald over. Nice :)

Matthew Mason grabs 2-5 in his first 5 overs of his comeback. Good to see. Hope he can play the rest of the season now. Truly bizarre that Gareth Batty and Gareth Andrew bowled before him.

Yorkshire have been excluded (and not for being French :p ).

I think that means it'll be Durham v Notts in a quarter-final, but no other news.

Warwicks collapsing - Stevens & Azhar the difference :)

Feel really sorry for Durham tbh... I read somewhere that Pollock would have played in the original match but now he can't. And they're having to squash another fixture in.

Yeah, if the ECB were aware of the problems with Rafiq as early as January last year (apparently someone informed Yorkshire of the problem) why wasn't it raised earlier?

Also, Durham v Notts seems impossible to fit in unless a couple of Pro40 games are cancelled. Durham have eight of their next nine days in Championship cricket (on the ninth day Notts are due to play in Worcester). After that there's a Pro40 Sunday, though in theory it could be fitted in on Monday. It leaves both sides playing six days of successive cricket though.

Has there been much play in the Championship today?
Durham: off for the day
Brizzle, Cardiff, Woster: rain inspection at 1.40
Nottingham: 22.4 overs before stop, Surrey lost both openers and are 45/2
Derby: 8.2 overs, 19/2, Rogers & Hinds batting
Canterbury: Late start, 15.5 overs, Lyth & McGrath taking Yorks to 72/1

Soton is the only place with full quota of overs.
