1976 -- "Five American boxers - Sugar Ray Leonard, Leon Spinks, Michael Spinks, Leo Randolph and Howard Davis Jr. won gold medals in boxing. This has been often called the greatest Olympic boxing team the United States ever had, and, out of the five American gold medalists in boxing, all but Davis went on to become professional world champions."

Think Laydown Sally in the rowing was mentioned earlier.
I also think Shane Kelly should be included too. 1996 Atlanta Games, then world champion Kelly was one of the hot favourites in the 1km time trial only to suffer a cruel blow when his foot slipped off the pedal after the starter's orders.

Those two are already nominated, dont know about others.
No disrespect to the achievement and its place in Dutch sporting history, just curious, is there any reason (other than a hard fought victory) why this should be a memorable olympic event ?
