Wondering if you actually read my hidden text. Worked a charm if not, but you're usually pretty thorough. :p
I might not even have said it had you not predicted it TBH.

If you don't use QR you can't miss "hidden" text, BTW. Even if you had missed it first time, which I didn't.

I've had Irishmen pull me up for use of the term "British Isles" before now, saying it's not inclusive enough.

I'm happy with either, but I'd imagine Irishmen would be happier with the "British And Irish" ones.
They may be happier but the term doesnt exist and nor should it.

I just meant it wouldn't really make sense having Ireland, Wales and Scotland together with England separate as Wales would be with England if anyone.
England and Wales are already a united entity, thanks to the fact Glamorgan have always played in the Championship. If East Stirlingshire and some Irish county had done likewise the Cricket Board formed in 1997 would be the British Isles Cricket Board (or similar).

It's always made perfect sense, but was always unofficial, as there was a Welsh county in the Championship but not a Scottish or Irish one.

Harsh?

Not really. It'd be harsh if he was trying to be, well... harsh... but he's not.

I think.

Well yeah, but there's also O'Brien, O'Brien, Rankin, Langford-Smith, Johnson, Bray, Cusack, Fourie, Mooney (although I think he might have retired) and Whelan to account for. Probably more too who I can't think of off the top of my head.
Langford-Smith has also retired. Needs time to potter about his flowerpots. Johnston's out of ODIs by now I think.

From what I've heard he's retired.

Such a horrid performance today. Wondering as to why our side was so week.

British Isles is the name if to be used. It includeds "Great Britain and Ireland" so why double up for no point.

 In Ireland they have expressly forbidden it being labelled the British Isles in textbooks and such like. I can see why - they ain't British, so these isles ain't British either, just the one of them.

Though I do not wish to have a debate about whether folk from Northern Ireland are British. It wouldn't be right without Mitchell and Brumby :p

Oh yeah I know that, didn't word it the way I wanted too.

These are just chances for NZ players to cash in on poor bowling/batting and get their averages way better than probably deserved. If its not one of the top 8 teams it should be List A otherwise all the worthwhile and good records get broken by some international team playing a minnow. How would McCullum and Marshall like to remember their first international hundreds "oh yep I scored it against Ireland!"

James Marshall now having an ODI century on his record has made me think a little more about Richard's opinions regarding these 2nd tier teams. Marshall, who would average little more than 15 against test nations (incl. Bangladesh in my opinion) now suddenly has a big international century on his record despite it being Ireland's 2nd XI.

It makes his stats a mockery!

jmarshalls avg.. jumped from 9.8 up to 25 after the Ireland match.. if he was not out. it would have been 27.7 it might improve beyound 30 after the scotland match.

Appalling really from the Irish, such a shame that they were as woeful with the bat as they were with the ball earlier in the day. Vettori didn't even bowl an over. If Ireland are to consistently fail to select a proper side, all their experienced gained from making the Super 8s in 2007 World Cup (and contributing to the average-ness of the tournament) will be worthless.

Yeh shocking really. In saying that, the innings may give him the confidence needed to perform at international level - not saying hes going to make 160s against the gun nations but it may be worth noting his average from here.

That game was probably on a par with his impressive domestic form IMO. Therefore the confidence taken from that and domestic competitions makes him look like he will fire against top teams. When he plays real international teams I believe he will struggle just as much as before. I do want him to succeed though.
