based on your post, If Gambhir and Raina would have got dismissed at 56 and 16 respectively then Kapali would have gone for 25, so how would the game been totally different
Well if those three were dismissed early then perhaps other batsmaen would have stepped up and made runs, or it could have been a low-scoring game. Disappointing that the catching was poor on both sides though.

Dhoni seemed to imply that the scheduling had gotten to the Indian team. ( India played ODIs on 25th, 26th and 28th - this game).

[ From what he's referring to: The two teams playing back-to-back games are SL and India, the two teams that are not are BD & Pak. The implication in this is a bit strong. ]

Yeah, I'd prefer he didn't go there but I'm sure it's given plenty of fuel to the conspiracists and heretics around India.

He not really consistent enough to bat at 7 though. He will always be very hit and miss. You need someone that is reilable at 7, not someone tha can occasionally get going.
But who? The player should be a good bowler as well. SOmebody who can take the mantle from Vaas. ATM, only Maharoof looks like the possible choice.

Lol at these flat tracks
is this what we are going to see in CT?

what made last time such a good tourny was the gun wickets that made for even contest b/w bat and ball (Martyn was majestic)

The Lankan fielding was dire. Look at how many of them let boundaries through their legs or parried the ball over the ropes. In fact, it's not just India and Pakistan not holding on to catches. It's a global problem. Your comments on that?

Possibly they have been complacent. Against Pakistan they fielded very well, although Jayasuriya dropped one (but he's still better than many Indians or Pakistanis even at 39!).

Bring on India, and what ever happens as the result, fielding will go up a tier.

The Match Between Srilanka & India should be very Interesting. If Sri Lanka Has Sanath, India Has Sehwag, Sangakara = Raina. damn cant wait to watch...

The same thing happened to India when they played back to back games..we should stop being so hard on them guys..Its not the usual sub-contnental conditions this..very very hot this time of the year.Doubtless, that is the reason for this shoddy fielding display..imo IND and SL are pretty evenly matched on the field when both aren't exhausted(same level of fitness).Expect a competitive match between IND and SL.

SL is miles ahead of IND with their fielding, and it had been like that for the past decade

I tend to agree with that - sad but true. Though with Raina, Yuvraj, Rohit Sharma, Uthappa etc in this new side things should have improved

Ind will be gearing up for the double header on 2nd and 3rd against the other two Asian giants Pak and SL respectively .... double-headers are tough but i guess, the positive is that Ind needs to win one of the two to go to the final

if Ind can win both the games then it would be a great morale booster for the youngsters

so whats on the plate:

SL - As i said earlier that Jayasuriya and Sangakara's combination looks good and is something SL should consider persisting with. the bowling has experience with Vaas, Murali and Jayasuriya .... Sangakara and Jayasuriya are the obvious threat

Pak - strong batting line up considering that guys like Butt, YK and Afridi do well against Ind

As a team, i think Ind is stronger than the above two and can handle challenges that these two teams can throw at it

Raina has played superbly so far and now it's time for others like Rohit, Yuvi and Yusuf to step it up .... Sehwag and Gambhir's is an awesome combination. I feel that the attacks are not good enough to get Sehwag out, unless he does something stupid. Gambhir, iirc, has one good inning of 90 against BD so may be its time for him to come to the party .... it would be great if the bowling gets its act together in good batting conditions

the 11

1 to 3 ----> Sehwag, Gambhir, Rohit
4 to 7 ----> Raina, Yuvi, Dhoni, Pathan
8 to 11 ----> Praveen, Chawla, RP, Ishant
