**Official** New Zealand in England

Not all that disappointed with New Zealand's start to be honest. Ten overs from Bopara and Wright we should be able to get plenty from, and Swann can also now be targeted.
It's a fair point, actually. Twenty overs from Swann/Bopara/Wright/Shah/KP could be fill your boots time for NZ. Colly's bowling a big miss for us.

Got to have the wickets in hand to take full advantage, though ... :)
NZ should be looking to protect their wickets for another 10 overs and then ask Flynn to blast if he can. We cant lose Styris at this point. Styris should stay longer today

Go Flynn! Is he possibly the most comfortable looking batsman out there without runs on board the whole tour?

Flynn hits a cracking shot! :)
NZ desperately want him to do well really, been earmarked into this side for a while now, since U19s.

Some might argue he got into the ND side too young for a batsman at 19-ish, and struggled really for like 3-4 seasons before getting it together this summer just past.

I hear also that B.J. Watling is back from his last innings of 378 (albeit club game) for the tournament in Australia playing for NZ Emerging players side, along with South Africa Emerging players side, and one other aside from OZ emerging players. Ryder and Franklin is in that side as well. Hope they make a good series of it.

I'm assuming B.J. Watling is the next opener we will use this summer, if he scores well.

Oooo. Would've been a great catch if it'd stuck, but that has to go down as a chance I suppose. Very thick edge just eludes the fingertips of Bopara. Swann bowling very tidily so far.

luck on NZ side
Definitely - going along fairly nicely - hopefully can keep wickets in hand :)

Raghav, if you're free, would you mind coming onto Google Talk/MSN for a few minutes? Want to ask a heavy user of CW Fantasy Cricket a question about it which you are :)

Anderson's last 57 ODIs against ODI-standard teams, before this game, from the winter of 2003/04 onwards, produce an average of 34.36 and an economy-rate of 5.23, which is only fractionally above his career ODI-standard-team rate of 5.17.

By my reckoning he's bowled well 12 times out of these 57. That is extremely poor.
That's dismal. I never particularly rated Anderson as a good bolwer but those figures are poorer than I thought.

I was just about to come on here and say how Flynn looked really good out in the middle, composed and calm in a tough situation for New Zealand. First time I've had a decent chance to have a look at him and I was genuinely impressed. Seems to be a very wristy player through midwicket, but can play shots through point and cover quite well too.

Styris looked comfortable at the start of his innings, but has been a little shaky since that chance he gave to Bopara off Swann, who incidentally, has bowled very well. We need to make the most of the overs that Bopara and Wright are going to bowl, hopefully milk them for 5+ an over.

Norwood's on Fire
Looks like we should be set a target that is chaseable in theory, nothing is certain with us though.

Early thoughts on MOTS? Colly would have perhaps been worth a shout, tops the run-scoring charts and second in the wicket table (prior to today).

Been an interesting series for us. I maintain that we have improved as an ODI outfit since two years ago but it's good that we've had a boot up the arse after a couple of good early performances. Still some way to go yet, CT will be an intersting test this autumn.

Will be a crime if Southee doesn't get it IMO.
