How Are You Doing On CM?

Reading always seem to do well in my games, and with Shane Long you have a gun striker to lead your attack. Would be an entertaining and challenging way to start I guess.

And Hahnemann is really overrated in the game so a solid keeper to bail you out too.

Also, anyone got any recommendations for me on FM08? I tend to not go the mighty whites, someone English, maybe start in the Prem but not big four

Man City and Spurs are both decent teams to use to learn the game I find, make sure you patch it first mind.

Yep, 8.02 patch is necessary for the game to be playable. Out of the box and the number of long shots from crap players that go in is ridiculous. 8.02 also seems to neuter Liverpool big time, Rafa never lasts more than a season in my games.

Interesting I find in my current game, that Man Utd are in about 17th Place in the premiership with about 7 games left to go, and Steve Coppel (who was hired as manager at the beginning of the Season) hasnt been sacked, whats more in the jobs page his status is still "secure", WTF is up with that....Esspecially seeing as Alex Ferguson got sacked after he finished in 5th place....weird.

Rooney and Ronaldo carry them for the first few years in every one of my games. Ferguson's always gone out on his own terms for me unfortunately.

Avram Grant once lasted 4 seasons without winning a trophy in one of my games too. And if you ever get a gem of a player watch out for the incoming bids, summer months are the worst with those.

Gone with City. As I normally never last more than a season with any of my CM/FM debuts, I decided to up their expectations a little in exchange for more cash. And I'm getting big bids left, right, centre for Micah Richards already, weighing them up as we speak

If you can get around £28m for him thats pretty decent imo, you dont see many defenders go for more than that, and with that kind of cash you could go out and get Ezequiel Garay or Vincent Company and still have some left over for another pretty decent player.

Bought FM08 a couple of weeks ago and I'm pretty frustrated with it. Playing as PSV finished third in my first season behind Feyenoord and Ajax. Was about 22 points behind actually. Finding a lot of things annoy me, like the disallowed goals, coming from a 01/02 background im used to it, but at least in that game you can score more often to make up for it. The disallowed goals in this game seem to strike just when u dont want it to.

Other than that i'm finding it hard to get an equal share of possesion, ive tried a lot of different formations and tactics etc... but very rarely do I finish a game with more than 45% of the ball. Played a cup game against a non league team yesterday, won 4-0 but finished with only 37% possesion.

Good game otherwise. Better than 07 at least.

The good thing about playing with City is that there's so many players that become guns after a few seasons. Schmeichel, Hart, Richards, Corluka, Onuoha, Johnson, Sturridge have all become extremely good in my game. I realise that some of them are randomly good, but meh.

Sold Onuoha for 25m pounds to Barca during my last off-season.

Just past the halfway mark of the 2011/2012 season and things are looking ok at Fiorentina. After a shaky first 6 games (2-1-3) we've had a very good run, and are withing striking distance of a top 4 place. Breezed through the euro vase to qualify for the Euro Cup, and then had 4 and zip run through the group stage to set up a the first knockout round against Stuttgart. Easily got past Sampdoria in the first round of the Italian cup, and thanks to Giampaolo Pazzini (Gun!!) grabbed a 2-1 lead after the first leg of the QF against AC Milan at San Siro. Have just sold Marcell Jansen to Milan for 12m (he wanted to go, I was probs going to get rid of him anyway at the end of the season) and have taken the punt of putting one of my 18y/o left backs on the bench, whilst Alessandro Potenza takes back starting duties. Oh, and for the record, Matias Fernandez = Gun!!

Midway through season 2 in my Notts County game. Season one predicted I'd finish 11th but managed to sneak in 5th thanks to a 4 game winning run at the end but got done in the playoff finals by Stockport 3-2.

Positives for mine, getting Marcus Stewart on a free from Yeovil even at 34 he managed to bang in 20 league goals for me and an awesome loan signing in David McGoldrick from Southampton who finished with 22 league goals. Unfortunately these guys shot blanks in the playoffs and so another season on League Two awaits.

Managed to get John Spicer (who's been teh ***) in on a free in season two and am currently sitting in third 4 points off first with 17 games to play. Adding to the squad is nigh on impossible as I have no transfers and getting a good keeper in on loan just isn't happening for me. Hopefully if I get up I'll have something to play around with for next season.
