CW Colts Awards Season XIII

FC Batsman of the Year
Some fine individual performances in this form of the game, with four batsmen passing the 1000 run mark. Jasotharan was his usual high scoring self, notching up 1303 runs for the year, although his conversion rate wasn't up to his usual standards. Griffen had a break out year, finishing just shy of 1400 runs at 38.36. The batsman with the highest average was Will Kerr, who notched 1467 runs @ 58.68, in a fine effort, including three centuries. But Chris Butler is this year's FC Batsman of the Year, with 12 50's, 3 centuries, and 1597 runs this season, he led from the front and has been a fine acquisition to the Colts since coming over.

FC Bowler of the Year
Four bowlers took over 50 wickets for the year, but in the end there was always one obvious winner. Greg Thomas took a lot of wickets (85), although let through a lot more runs inbetween his trademark hauls, finishing with an average above 35. Mike Wilson was a model of reliablity, as he took 50 wickets, and was just outstripped by Tarick Weber, who took 52 wickets at 35. But the winner was Kyle Wright, with 102 wickets at a miserly average of 25.72, the only Colts bowler to average under 30. Well done to the Skipper.

OD Batsman of the Year
Once again, there were four worthy candidates for this award. Mike Wilson notched up over 500 runs, including a wonderful century, as did Griffen, both scoring at good rates. Jennifer Law was runner up, with 622 runs at 34.55, a fine effort. However, the highest scorer for the season was once more Chris Butler, whom despite playing four less matches than his previously mentioned teammates, scored seven half centuries and collated 626 runs at over 39.

OD Bowler of the Year
The bowling stats in the shorter form aren't all that nice reading. The lowest average of any of the bowlers was 37, and that from Liam Howgate whom only played one match. The lowest economy rate belonged to Jack McNamara, who took his 10 wickets at over 60. Thad Bochat also displayed his wares with 18 wickets, at just over 50. In the end, the award went to the highest wicket taker, a player that has developed his OD game in both facets in recent years. Well done to Tarick Weber, who took 18 wickets @ 47.89, who is the OD Bowler of the Year.

FC All Rounder of the Year
Tarick Weber, in combination with his 52 wickets, nearly notched up 500 runs, a very handy effort. Nick Hancock had his best season with the bat, averaging 38 as well as still chipping in with the ball, and continuing his evolution as a player. But in the end, Mike Wilson was the obvious choice, combining 50 wickets with 700+ runs to take out this award. Well done Mike.

OD All Rounder of the Year
Weber's batting wasn't as good as it has been in previous years in OD cricket, thus somewhat ruling him out of this award. Hancock only played a few matches, so despite the lack of competition, the gloss shouldn't be taken away from the efforts of Mike Wilson in the OD arena. He scored over 500 runs, as well as being our third highest wicket-taker with 14.

Captain's Award
Generally awarded for efforts on field, and also participation, the skipper this year awards it to Will Kerr, who was fantastic in his on-field exploits especially in the FC arena, but also provided much activity and humour in the Colts thread.

Thanks for the great write-up Jack, fantastic effort once again. Very proud of the Colts this year, we did some great things on the field and were very competitive for much of the season in the first class arena. The one day game is something we really need to improve that.

Congratulations to all the award winners, you are all worthy.

Looking forward to our next season, hopefully everyone will be on board again. Would love to see some activity in this thread to see who is ready to go again next season.

International Debutant
Deserved winners all round, thanks for putting the work in Jack, great stuff.

Always ready to go, tbh, looking forward to getting stuck into the dev league again after having had a really good offseason. Quietly hoping that this'll be my breakout season, and wouldn't rather be playing anywhere else than the Colts

I was amazed by your offseason heroics. If there's a way to set yourself up for your breakout season, this'd be it.
