As usual in football you have to be somewhat dishonest to be rewarded.

That should have been a penalty.
I didn't think it was a penalty anyway, though I agree to a certain extent, in that if he had gone down he'd probably have got a penalty, whether it should have been or not.

Horse was knocked off balance even tho he did everything possible (and more than is reasonable) to hurdle Buffon. It wasn't one of those where the player leaves their back leg behind or just runs straight into the keeper.

Coming back to this, agree with Halsey that I don't think it was a penalty. All credit to Ruud for staying up rather than going downlike 90% of players would.

Personally think it's a sad indictment of football as a sport that someone can describe a penalty as a reward for going down, rather than a punishment for breaking the rules, and nobody disagrees. Feel fully justified in my comments on how soft the sport is.

Was just looking at it before he scored the third, a number of us tipped 2-0 and 1 or 2 of these had Villa aswell.

Anyway, Russia are dire. Just puts into perspective how poor we've become.
Won't argue the presence of a cat flap at the back, but they did very nearly score two goals on Spain.

Don't like the Swedes because they're rubbing it in on us that they have a decent team, when in actual fact it's filled with guys like Alexandersson, Petter Hansson, Anders Svensson and Ljungberg (the latter two were good five years ago).
