I remember on an old copy of Pro Evo I was NAC Breda on Master League and the only play I kept after reaching the ‘top’ was Orlando Engelaar, he formed a great partnership with van Hooijdonk.

Anyhow, dream start by the Dutch, that was a top goal.

Twice. I said Italy would be out before the quarters.
Think it's a bit early for that - I still think they'll beat France anyway, personally. They've hardly been outplayed here (so far). First goal was a shocker of a decision, second goal was a brilliant goal.

Commentators here saying the first goal was good because there's an Italian player lying dead next to the goal. I would have thought he would be out of play and thus didn't count towards the offside?

Haven't seen exactly where he was, but the comms here suggested he was off the field of play. Imagine we'll see a replay when the ads have finished. Bloody ITV.

Way outside the field. About a metre.

Swedish referee says it should be a goal, as you're not allowed to deliberately put a player offside by leaving the field of play, nor deliberately remain off the field of play to keep a player offside. Not much deliberation in lying knocked out imo.

YES! Got on the dutch yesterday for the tournament outright at 15.00

Obviously winning here doesn't mean much, but its a good start!

As I type this they've dropped to 7.00

One for the experts, if a goal is scored, but the striker is clearly off side but the linesman doesn't call it, can the ref still call said striker for off side if he is in the position to to be able to call the striker for off side?

Yeah, why not? Though in most cases the linesman is better positions so he'll usually trust his word.

Well...uhhh...just...well...bwahahaaahhaaaaa.

Any Italians about? I want to laugh in their faces.
I support Inter Milan and want Italy to win Euro 2008. Although Stefano is bona fide Italian though.

Great game though, well played Netherlands, it certainly wasn't boring.

I speak about 10% of the language and I can count from 0 - 30 in Italian although 16 and 26 gives me nightmares.
