Oh, yeah, he's certainly far from the worst bowler you'll see. Bowls a few too many no-balls sometimes and isn't the tallest, but certainly has a decent bit going for him. Azhar isn't awful either.
I think Yasir is actually quite promising. However, I think his main potential lies in the Test version.

Damn, for how long?
Returning from a groin strain now. Played for the seconds recently.

Hogg has also been injured. Broke his finger in April. No idea how he is, but he's no great loss. No better than Croft.

Ton up for Croft - his batting has moved on a long way this season.

SSN was reporting that Sutton and Shreck had a bit of a spat and coming together as well. Hopefully we can now drive this up to 450 and then get stuck into the Notts top order.

Saj in the wickets again.

Edit. BBC seemed to have credited the second wicket to him by mistake. Have since changed it to Newby.

See, I can understand confusion over who scores a goal in football, even the odd mistake as to who has took a catch or effected a run-out, but really, getting the bowler wrong

Good days again for Jones & Harmison. Less so for Hoggard. And Shah could have picked worse weeks to ton up against Essex.

Can't see Harmison coming back again now tbh, and I'm starting to think we might never see Hoggy in the England whites again

Jones, on the other hand, will surely tour this winter if he keeps this good form up. He went for a few but took 5, and everyone seemed to go for a few on that deck

Hogg is rarely ever threatening. To look remotely dangerous, he needs a white ball and conditions so favourable that even Margaret Thatcher could make the ball swing.

Croft is rarely ever threatening, NOR does he ever bowl economically. Hogg at least has often managed to do the latter in recent times.

Well, given Croft is playing more as a batsmen and 4th seamer, they are apples and oranges really. We've seen in the past having Hogg at 6 is a mistake and if he was 4th seamer he do SFA. Hogg is battling Cork for a place, and he should be in ahead of him at the moment imo, Hogg has been in great form so far this year, Cork is past it, but the selectors have Hogg pinned down as a OD player, not without reason.

Smith is fit at the moment, but it was between him and Newby for a spot, they both played in the Seconds last week, Newby to 5-22 and 2-23, Smith did nothing. I'd have Smith in ahead of Saj, that's not giong to happen though so i don't have a problem with Newby's selection ahead of him for this game.

Damn, Smith has been such a frustrating case the last 2 seasons. So obviously potentially a better bowler than Newby (and Mahmood of course), but simply hasn't performed like it recently.

He said last year he got a bit too concerned with improving his batting and as a result didn't spend too much time on his bowling. He'll come back this year imo, by the second half of the season i think he'll be in the side and firing.

Aga gets selected, finally, and his first spell is 6-3-11-3

Had another look at the scorecard and it could very well be Aga has taken a Hattrick !!

Truly amazed he hasn't played more this season - what was the point of signing a Kenyan if you were barely going to play him in the first half of the season?

Been over here for a while and has played for the Seconds a fair bit. I think he's got some sort of educational background as well (finance? rings a bell), so he's playing less as a Kenyan, more as an English resident who happens to have already played ODIs for Kenya.

So... he's not moved here to play cricket, he's moved here for other reasons and also happens to be a pretty good cricketer... if that makes sense.

Andruid would clear all that up for us though.

BTW, another question for Dav or Bennett - Hodge is coming back to Lancs later this season isn't he?
