Patel tons up and has scored a heavy percentage of his teams runs (50-60%).

Also, Bopara passes 150. Definite England call up for him now, they just need to bat him at 3 or 4.

Wow Bopara going crazy at Leicestershire. Thats got to pretty much give him a place in the England one day team surely?

Interesting list - several of the innings > Bopara's 201 were against soft opposition or in easier circumstances. He's put himself in some pretty rarified company with that knock. Essex will enjoy their lunch, until they remember that they haven't actually got an attack today.

Elsewhere, Gloucs won't be unhappy with their total after being 50 for 6.
And Notts will still think they have a chance if Pattison get a few early wickets.

Still, Bopara really seems to have been playing a different game to everyone else today.

Do you recall what Ali Brown was striking at?
Probably something ludicrous, but it was an absolute road and IIRC one of the boundaries was unusually short.

Found it.
Brown's 268 came from 160 balls, at 168.
Bopara's 201 came from 138 balls at 146.

I see Sky managed to select the only game in which there wasn't a ball bowled today. 30 years ago the BBC could cover both semi-finals, but apparently today they can only have cameras at one ground. The decision by Kent to play this important match at a club ground (Beckenham) looks very odd too, can't help thinking there would have been play at Canterbury.

Haha, Patel having the best match of anyone ever? I think so.

EDIT: Haha, just seen Bopara's efforts.

Looks an amazing innings by Bopara. Against a very ordinary attack but no where close to the worst County cricket has seen over the years.

Good to see Liecs get thumped. Only 4 English born players in their XI. A team that included 6 South Africans doesnt deserve to be championed.

As I thought when I returned home this evening to see that astonishing innings played - first man other than Alistair Brown to hit a limited-overs double-century between two A-list teams (Vince Wells' came against Berkshire, who are [were?] a temporary addition when they play A-list counties) in this country.

I'd bet on him being the last for quite a while too.

Haven't read any reports so he might've been dropped 5 times for all I know right now, but if not then something of a remarkable innings from someone who is not normally a strokeplayer or anything resembling one.
