Whatever it takes!!!
But I agree with you about Uthappa. He was atrocious. At least Sachin came out of injury and played next to nothing in the two blobs he scored. Later he played a BIG part in MI's revival with successive opening partnerships with Jayasuriya.

He was willing to play second fiddle and take singles and give him the strike since he was in great touch. If some one of the caliber of Sachin can do that, realising that this is in teams interest, how come a Johnny-come-lately like Uthappa doesn't get it and insists on playing the "Indian-Sir-Vivian" every time he is at the crease. Uthappa's failure to be able to see that his tactics of rushing out and playing so many predetermined strokes are not working, has convinced me that he is one of the dumbest guys to step on a cricket field.
Add the fact that his defence is almost non-existant and you will see why I am still so-so about him being in our ODI side. He was getting beaten for pace by Gony, of all people, in the first game between Chennai and Mumbai. And Warne was all over him, even more so than he was against Dhoni. Time to put the "I can sledge and talk myself up in interviews, get crazy haircuts, score at a SR of 100 and play reverse sweeps" gang and get the honest hardworking pros from the domestic circuit in for a few games, I feel. Let Uthappa go and learn what it is like to have a defence.

Pretty much, as much as I love seeing Indian players with the belief that they are capable of taking on the world there does need to be a bit of humility and they do need to achieve something first before running their mouths in the manner Uthappa has done in the past.

His "no angles" rant in the CB series was one thing but then coming out and saying things like T20 isn't for old players etc, well I couldn't believe what I heard. Needs a reality check does Robin, I was hoping it would be from being left out of the India squad.

Actually, I don't mind it if they sledge or talk themselves up etc. Obviously, as you said, they can do with a bit of humility but life is such that if they can't learn it themselves it will teach them the hard way about all that. What I am more concerned about is having the ability to play and play well in most situations. And without some kind of a decent technique (doesn't have to be copy book, juz something that can work for you), you cannot really be too successful in cricket in the long run. And that is where I feel Uthappa and the likes of Tiwary are lacking.

That is why I feel the likes of Raina and Badrinath are much better options than these guys even now.

Well done Rajasthan, a class above Delhi who as myself and Duffer iirc pointed out just don't have the batting depth.

Smith's injury is a huge blow. He's the rock at the top of the order and really needed for the final. Should be a cracker though, Punjab is pretty much the perfect side and I'd expect them to thrash Chennai tonight, the side everyone thought were far and away the best in the league before their internationals had to leave.

Pomers out of the side. Crap me. Been gunning it.

EDIT: He's averaging 152.00 after five matches. Ridiculous decision.

Those wickets were big, but as long as Marsh is there Chennai not out of the woods yet. Get him out and then there's going to be pressure on Yuvi and Mahela.

Probably a good thing they went for Mahela over Pomersbach. An experienced head is needed here to get them out of this.

This is what happens when you don't give your whole team a good knock. Marsh mania had to end against the same team that defeated them twice. With the already-in-form top-three gone, the middle-order was exposed, raw and underdone, and it showed. This looked more like Delhi Daredevils than the Punjab Kings.
