Ramps out cheaply again - since his last (and 99th hundred) against Sussex his scores have been 17,9,29,14 and 17. If that's not the pressure telling I don't know what it is. It's almost like he's playing for England again.

50 for Hamilton-Brown on Championship debut ... the Harmison brothers have shared four wickets, and Steve has figures Mike Hendrick would have been happy with: 16-8-24-2.

Talk about localised weather though - no play at the Rose Bowl, a full day (so far) at Croydon and Hove.

Apparently it's been dry at the Rose Bowl all day but they had torrential rain all last night which has left the ground soaked. So annoying...

Unfortunately, Ben Harmison is having more success with his bowling than his batting currently.

After he scored centuries in his first two First-Class innings, I really had high hopes for him.

I'm going tomorrow, I'd like to say, just in time to see Ramps get his ton - but if he gets one, I think it'll be today. Depends how the openers do though, obviously.

I'm going on Sunday, so there's a decent chance I'll see Ramps bat - always assuming Surrey's 'attack' can shift Tres & Langer by then.

Well - he had to have a downtime eventually.

Let's see what happens after he gets said century.

Disgraceful. The whole team needs sending to a Siberian labour camp.
Saj redeeming himself slightly. Will get away with being sent to Australia with the other cons if he keeps this up for another 3 days.

Bad news for Essex fans. After Kabir Ali and Magoffin reduced them to 39 for 5, Worcestershire's first change bowler is Simon Jones.

This pitch at New Road is evidently doing plenty.

Tudor appears to have bowled well for the first time this season (15-46-3 - all genuine batters). Guess what? ten Doeschate gets gifted another cheap 1-for though. 8-) Still somehow averaging in the teens this season. Worcs scrape 177, thanks mainly to Ben Smith, who is the pratt that got out to ten Doeschate.

Essex reduced to 77 for 6 in reply so far. ten Doeschate top-scoring with 28 off 30 so far. Chris Whelan doing his usual impersonation of the most useless bowler in history with 2 overs for 17 (4 given away in no-balls and a wide).

Jon Batty 28* off 117 balls, don't think the IPL will be beating a path to his door anytime soon. That on a small ground and on what is generally a good batting track.

Batty's been woefully out of nick this season, TBF to him.

First 7 innings of the season read 7*, 22, 5, 0, 17, 0, 8. In his most recent game he managed 26 and 54*, so maybe he's on the road to recovery.

In my opinion, the sign of a good unlimited overs batsman is one who can score runs even when in poor form.

That was the cue for Spriegel to get out.

I see he's replaced Ali Brown in the CC side, that was to be expected though.
Actually, looking at the season's records, if he was going to play as a first-choice, surely he must've replaced Newman rather than Brown. Even with his today's innings, Brown's performances have been far better than Newman's.

Can only presume Brown has picked-up some form of injury.
