Yeah, was disappointed to see that - that was a real chance to get his first century in authentic one-day cricket - ie, at the domestic level, rather than in ODIs.

Even if they are absolute ****s who teach their own team-mates nothing, they provide a good standard of opposition for bowlers (or batsmen, if they are bowlers themselves) in other teams.
Do they? Half the kolpaks to me look like real barrel scrapings, certainly not much better than any English replacements..

His wife is a bloke?
Er, no - I was referring to the actress Jackie Woodburne who played (plays?) Susan Kennedy.

She is in a relationship with the actress who played Lyn Scully, according to gossip on IMDB anyway (so if it's wrong, sue them, not me!!)

If they weren't better than the players they were keeping out, I doubt they'd be selected ahead of them.
There's a hell of a lot of mediocre (possibly more accurately described as downright poor) players who get selected ahead of other mediocre players at county level.

See earlier discussion about James Anyon and Chris Woakes.

OK, this Spriegel fellow had better be good - he's replaced Butcher as Newman's opening partner despite Butcher getting a double-century on his most recent appearance.

Mind, Surrey's side looks pretty deep with those three, Ramprakash, Afzaal, Benning, Jonathan Batty, Nicholson, Saqlain, Collins and just the one no-hoper in Dernbach.

I'm going tomorrow, I'd like to say, just in time to see Ramps get his ton - but if he gets one, I think it'll be today. Depends how the openers do though, obviously.

That was the cue for Spriegel to get out.

I see he's replaced Ali Brown in the CC side, that was to be expected though.

Harmison 7.2 5 3 2 0.40 (1nb, 1w)

Heh he's not conceded a run off the bat yet. Hit the stumps a couple of times tho.

With Harmy though, you never know - has been been bowling tight, or just nothing they needed to play at?

Yardy's a good batsman in the longer form of the game.

Sussex have their worst opening pair for many a year this season with Nash and Hopkinson though.

Is it seriously possible that these two photos are really the same person barely a year apart:
