Dilhara annoys me so much. Give that perfect build and athletic ability to someone who actually has the heart and desire to use it for fast bowling.
Sreesanth? He could use some inches...

Hyderabad's ordinary tournament has been even more surprising than Jaipur's good tournament. Where's Rohit Sharma, btw? He's been their best batsman by a distance. Afridi and Styris extremely disappointing.
Picked up the morning paper, and I found that Sharma would sit out of this match because of a hand injury he sustained while batting in the previous match. Big loss.

Cos he's crap. Buy **** and you'll get ****.

Reckon Fernando, apart from a good slower ball, has actually gotten a lot worse with age

When he was first picked for SL, he was quicker, more accurate and was potentially a good batsman

Now, I agree with you, he's just crap

With the two most hair brained cricketers in the world (haven't I said it before?) in Uthappa and Fernando, Mumbai Indians shouldn't have expected any better.

Finally the new age cricket writers of India also seem to have run out of 'positives' for their new found 'hero' in Uthappa. One Indian paper gives a kind of Man/Villain of the match award every day by naming the Stud and Dud of each match. Uthappa seems to be on that second spot on most days that MI play.
Forgetting Harbhajan Singh already?

Galling that the best young middle order bat in India today probably is from Mumbai - Rohit Sharma, of course. And Zaheer > Fernando, also plays for Mumbai (and is from Maharashtra).

Very good chance that league match #56, the last one, is also a preview for the finals.
It pits Rajasthan Royals vs Kings X1 Punjab.

Bombay Chokers are out and that makes my day. They were lucky to be in the race because DD Vs. KKR was washed out.

Chennai becomes the 4th team to make it to the knockouts .... I m happy for Dhoni, who is one of my favs :)

And it's nice to see 3 of my top teams [the North-West teams] making it to the semis, too bad that Mumbai lost out otherwise it would have been a cool North-West show

For MI, things could get better next yr with Malinga and Bhajji coming in .... Bravo will probably get a decent run and KP is rumored to be in the line too so things will hopefully improve for MI

For the game against B'lore tomm, I would recommend the following line up

1 to 3 ----> Jayasuriya, Uthappa & Smith
4 to 7 ----> Tendulkar, Nayar, Pollock & Takawala
8 to 11 ----> Bowlers

:)

With Rohit and Zaheer in the side, MI would have been close to being the top side. If wishes were horses.....

I'd go more like: (players who haven't played any international cricket)

Shaun Marsh
Shikhar Dhawan
Ravindra Jadeja
Yo Mahesh
Manpreet Gony

It's a good list, although in the running would be guys like Asnodkar, Venugopal (although capped, was labelled by many as being nowhere near good enough), Nayar, Saha and Dinda.

Punjab should easily make it, though for Delhi it really depends on Sehwag and Gambhir, if they get off to a flier they have a pretty good chance at making the finals, if not, they really don't have the depth in batting, you'd think.
Agreed with the assesment of the Delhi game, they're very dependant on their openers and should they fail Maharoof and Dilshan to bail them out late in the innings.

But Chennai have done the double over Punjab in the regular season and although I think King's XI are the better team especially in their bowling this one won't be an easy one for them.

He seemed to (quite extraordinarily) use three gears within the course of his spell. He bowled at about 129kph as a stock ball; 138kph as the quicker ball and then got up to 148kph in the last over.

Yo Mahesh has been okay in the IPL, but I think he is overrated somewhat because he picks up cheap wickets in the latter overs. Ravindra Jadeja has been a real find as he came into the tournament as a bowling all rounder and has left it as a fully fledged batsman.

Another top performance by Bangalore :) but at least Steyn had a good IPL tournament, economy rate lower than seven, average in the low 20s; he would have probably taken that.
