Disagree with this; Leeds were a big club, European semi-finalists, and the like.

I personally fear slightly for United's long term future. Chelsea are in more danger IMO - once Abramovich goes, there'll be massive debt, and they don't have the history of the other three, they're not really one of England's great clubs.
The point is, thoug, that Keeds were semis in europe because they spent money tey didnt jave have. bit like if i decided to impress my neighbours by taking out a loan or ten and buying a ferrrair. Leeds paid the true price for their excessive spending~: Jennison myire williams sciored a beayt against them, showed them how the game shld be played. noe come on carlisesle.

He won't get arrested. Him leaving at some point in the near or distant future however, for whatever reason, will be a big problem for Chelsea.
Agreed, though it seems unlikely at the moment, him leaving at any stage would be a major problem for Chelsea, one that in all probability would be the end of them.

With Arsenal, that's not going to happen unless they get Dean and Usmanov to buy the club, which I hear the fans are violently against.
Wouldnt be opposed to Dean getting back on the board tbh, only done good for the club from what I ever saw.

Was referring more to the football side of things. They've allowed Gill and Fergie to do their thing. And I care because I'll be going to Old Trafford in the foreseeable future.
This is true, they're preferable to the likes of Hicks, however that doesn't make me like them, prices get raised year on year, gradually pricing more and more proper fans out.

OT used to be one of the cheapest grounds in the Premiership, nothing like that any more.

Bolded bit is true, but you'd have thought that a European semi-finalist would be able to find an investor, if big clubs will always find a billionaire to bail them out?

None of the big four will ever be in danger of collapsing due to debt like Leeds, because being bigger clubs than Leeds there'll always be a billionare there to bail it out.
Arsenal have the Queensland Rd and Highbury Flats projects being completed pretty soon don't they? Read somewhere that they stand to make upwards of £100-120m from them which will slash a lot of their current debt and that'll clear up a lot of the current stress the club is under financially.

Their debt is very managable and they don't need a foreign investor to compete financially. Hill-Wood has come out and said he's never refused Wenger any transfer funds on many occasions so it's down to the manager and what he thinks is right for the club. He's even come out today and said:

'At the moment, the vibes coming out of the club are as though it might implode, but it's not like that at all. We're very stable and in a financially very good situation.

'I will be a busy man this summer. I know what I want and I'm very confident. We should sort out the deals in the next two or three weeks."

So Dein and Jabba the Hut can **** off please.

They've spent next to nothing (by the standards of a big four club) for some time. Either what Wenger says with regards to not having much money is correct, or he's had money to spend but chosen not to, in which case people need to stop praising him for achieving what he has on no money.
It's a fair point, actually. I'm not party to the financial ins-and-outs, but given our annual income you would assume Wenger must have some money to spend but just prefers to grow his own, as it were. If Hleb goes (as looks likely) it'll be interesting to see if he feels the need to recruit or takes a punt on Walcott getting an extended run.

It looks increasingly likely that the top 4 will be exactly the same again next season with Gareth Barry looking like he will be leaving Aston Villa to join Liverpool & Berbatov almoast certainly leaving Spurs.

Unless one of the top teams implodes Leeds style you really can't see them being broken any time soon. The financial advantages from being in the Chmpions League (and the ability to attract better players due to playing the CL) have basically created a closed shop. Unless one of the big 4 implodes Leeds style you can't really see another club breaking in.

Other clubs cannot build teams as soon as any player has a decent season the big 4 just use their financial strengh and the attraction of Champions League football to cherry pick their best players. Look at how much better Spurs would be if they still had Carrick - they haven't had a decent defensive midfielder since he left for Man Utd and from being Spurs' best player to being a bit part at Man Utd.

For the record I think Berbatov will end up at Chelsea especially if Drogba leaves.

Dont get the Glazer hate tbh. Yeah prices have gone up, they do every year. Who can forget Martin Edwards blaming the season ticket increase on Roy Keane's new contract. That was classy.

As for securing the collateral for the purchase against the club, its no different to a person buying a house with a second mortgage, then renting it out and using the rent payments to pay off the mortgage, making a tiny profit plus the increase in property price. Its a common business practice, so long as theres a football team doing well, the clubs safe. With a club utds size (and global money power), it'd need a fair few crashes of Leeds proportions to ruin us, and lets face it, if we end up going down and going bust, then we've done something seriously wrong on the pitch.

Bennett's having a shocker: Rio clearly handled in the box & then Scholes committed a foul that was a yellow any day of the week, but because he'd been booked already the slap head swallowed it.

No complaints about United's pen tho, tbf.

That was his shoulder.
Hmm. No, on balance, I don't think there's any case that it was. The only debate was intent & he looked to move his arm to the ball for where I sat (which is in front on my telly, obv).

Moot point tho as The Chavs can't get it up.
