Reports in Italy suggest that if Inter wrap up the title this weekend president Massimo Moratti will buy Steven Gerrard. Yes and Manchester United will sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid for £10m at the end of the season.

A friend of Craigos is of the opinion that Arsenal are going to sell Hleb to Inter and will pick up guys like Joaquin and Vicente (they were part of the group including Villa and Silva who testified on Albelda's behalf) instead. With the money they have got they should look at doing so, plus if language is a problem they have Fabregas to translate as young Cesc speaks pretty good English now (in the interviews I have heard him in).

That's a rather simplistic way of looking at things, yes Arsenal do owe over £300m, but it's largely secured against the new stadium, which in turn provides a constant revenue stream. Man Utd are actually the most heavy debtors in English football, with the loans that the Glazers have attached to the club (roughly £650m) & no-one would say they have no money to spend. Arsenal's turnover since we moved to New Highbury now actually outstrips United's too (link).

The Emirates will provide revenue in the long term yes, but in the short term Arsenal won't be able to spend much at all. Man Utd's case is different, the Glaziers aren't actually paying off the debt but just transferring it to a holding company, their plan was (is) to buy the club for £600m, keep it for a few years and win some trophies, then sell it for £900m and make a cool £300m profit. With Arsenal, that's not going to happen unless they get Dean and Usmanov to buy the club, which I hear the fans are violently against.

None of the big four will ever be in danger of collapsing due to debt like Leeds, because being bigger clubs than Leeds there'll always be a billionare there to bail it out.

They've spent next to nothing (by the standards of a big four club) for some time. Either what Wenger says with regards to not having much money is correct, or he's had money to spend but chosen not to, in which case people need to stop praising him for achieving what he has on no money.

Disagree with this; Leeds were a big club, European semi-finalists, and the like.

I personally fear slightly for United's long term future. Chelsea are in more danger IMO - once Abramovich goes, there'll be massive debt, and they don't have the history of the other three, they're not really one of England's great clubs.

No problem with the Glazers running the club as they've not done much wrong. Not using their own money and using the club as collateral basically sucks. Hopefully they'll make enough money soon to put the club in a sutuation where continous success isn't necessary for continued survival. Still though something like what Ebbsfleet has might work seeing as Utd have so many fans if it was temporary and someone with administrative knowledge took charge or maybe a PLC again.

More wishful thinking, that. Abramovich won't go anywhere until he's arrested, and he's about the last of the oligarchs on the arresting list under the current Russian regime, so his money won't vanish until the oil price plummets.

He won't get arrested. Him leaving at some point in the near or distant future however, for whatever reason, will be a big problem for Chelsea.
