For Pakistan, sure, seeing as that's where he's from. But I cannot get my head around the idea of a player representing one country as many times as Saqlain did Pakistan before switching his allegiance to somewhere else.
It's a question of an adopted home though. Saqlain has been in England for so many years, and now has an English wife (I think), so he's built up some sort of allegiance to England. I don't think there should be a problem anyway. What is nationality anyway? It's largely abstract. It's about social conditioning.

Can't beleive they dropped Aga as well after the lad made such a promising start in the first two games
In fairness, the bowlers that played ahead of him are better. Established quality. Against a strong batting lineup, the defending champions can't afford to give people experience ahead of established options.

Come on. They used Martin-Jenkins with the new ball.

All three of Martin-Jenkins, Kirtley and Lewry are understandably ahead of Aga in the bowling stakes. I've been impressed with what I've seen of Aga in limited ODI appearances (ironically enough), in the CT a few years ago, but he's at least 4th in the pack.

Besides, Martin-Jenkins was picked for his batting as much as his bowling.

Doesn't exactly sound like a world of confidence in Kirtley's newly-modelled bowling that they've bowled him for 15 overs and after Martin-Jenkins. (Yes, I know that's a captaincy decision rather than a selectorial one, but it still shows that Kirtley is no longer the force he was back when he threw it.)

So you'd have advocated playing Aga ahead of Kirtley?

I like Aga (much like Liam, based on what I saw in CT a few years back) but he was the obvious one to miss out, really. Let's not forget they were bowling Wright ahead of him originally..

Considering that Adams bowled Aga (his fellow front-line bowler) for 9 overs of 135.1 overs against Kent, I wouldn't read too much into his use of Kirtley.

Ok, I give up. Still, yes, would have played him ahead of Kirtley. He won't average below 40 this year, I reckon.

Fair enough but considering that in those few overs he got the best bowling figure for Sussex bar Martin-Jenkins and that he went on to bag 3? more wickets in his next game mean Aga did at least make acase to remain in the XI. Oh by the way Mushy's absence it turns out is cos it was decided to have surgery on a long standing knee injury, which means he will be out for 3 weeks

I think we're thinking of 2 different games. Aga took 1-34 in the game against Kent and hasn't played since.

99 tons for Ramps now, and it all sounded very easy against Sussex's 'attack'.
Given the tempramental frailties that blighted his test career, I wonder how big a problem nerves will be now he's so close to the milestone.

Surrey have a week off now (well, after today's match) and three more CC games before T20 takes over. First at the Rose Bowl, then Yorkshire at the Oval, and Somerset at Whitgift. All accessible to anyone based in London and the south-east, if you don't have to earn a living that is.

It would be a brave man who bets against him doing it in one of those matches. Whoever sees him get the magic ton will see something that in all likelihood will never be achieved again.

Talking of which, I'll be at Whitgift on Sunday June 1st. Any other CWers likely to be there?
