I know **** all about NFL other than playing touch rugby on Fridays is fun... but I had a feeling that the Patriots would lose simply because of all the hype and expecatations.

Going in to the final undefeated was always going to be trouble.

Who was the Patriots guy that dropped the ball near the boundary line with like 1:20 to go? If he caught that, Patriots would have been able to run the clock down right?

I felt sick when the Cowboys lost to the Giants the other week .. dont feel so bad now .. Giants just clicked at the right time .. its a marathon not a sprint .. still the Patriot fans must be sick as proverbial parrots

Even the Greatest teams lost games on Sundays and Patriots are no exception. I am not qualified enough to make judgement on who is/isn't the greatest team ever, but there is no denying the fact that Patriots are a great team and perhaps one of the best teams of all time,So are the Celtics of 80s.

That said, I was rooting for the Giants mainly because of all the Media and Patriot Fans treating Giants as ****.
Sorry Sanz, I disagree. The Patriots can be considered a "great" team, but only Super Bowl winners can be figured into the conversation when discussing "greatest". There have many LOTS of "great" teams in the regular season over the years. Legacies and legends are defined by what happens in the Super Bowl.

By the way, one more reason to dislike the Pats: the sorryness of Bill Bilichick. He's always been a ****y you know what, and this season we found out all about his character in spygate. So how does Belichick react to losing the Super Bowl? He leaves the field even before the game is officially over. Also from that link, he had not much to say to his team before leaving the locker room:

One of the players told me that Belichick couldn't come up with anything to say in the post game locker room. He basically acknowledged that it was a disappointing loss and headed to the interview podium.

Pathetic.

My god what a Superbowl and what a play on 3rd and 5 to Tyree. Am well pleased for Eli backed him all along to come good by I didn't think he would take them up the field with 2.30ish left. Amazing...Cant believe I lived without FOOTBALL in my life for this long. Bring on the pro bowl.

well the Giants proved me wrong, they really outplayed the best team I have ever seen take the field, and totally deserved the win.

That 3rd and 5 play late on where Manning avoided the sack and the result was that +30 yard catch was one of the greatest plays in Superbowl history I would say.

The thing is, the Giants hardly even looked playoff calibre in the regular season, but they got that momentum going at just the right time.

I cant beleive us Vikes destroyed the eventual Superbowl winner in the way that we did!!!!

I am no Pats fan but I believe they have earned their respect and deserve little more respect after Sunday's loss. But the Patriots did win 3 superbowl in last 7 years and made it to the 4th one. Why cant they be a contender for one of the greatest teams ever ? 18-0 is not easy either. They were not the better team on Sunday, agreed. But they were still in the game until the last 35 seconds of the game. They lost the game to a freak play by Eli and a freak catch by a noname, not taking any credit away from those two, but it is their(patriots) greatness that despite not being the better team on that day, they were leading until the last 36 seconds.

As for their coach, All I can say is, that it is hardly surprising, it was very typical of him. I have no expectation from him.

The guy marched across the field and offered his congratulations to the opposite coach when he thought the game was over with a second left. Hardly ****ish.

The game wasn't over, no matter what he thought. His players, who I'm sure were as devastated as him if not more, had to stay on the field and play out that final second. You don't think their head coach should've been there with them? Instead he was sprinting out of the field (and incidently had no time for his team in the locker room afterwards either). I guess we disagree, but I call that sorry.

They lost, it was the last game of the season. Not really much else to say, certainly can't say 'yeah we'll get it right next week' or whatever.

Well I would argue that he could've acknowledged a great season. Congratulate them for being the first team in history to go 18-0. Tell them that they still have a great team and be prepared to come back next year to finish the job. But that's not my main beef with him. I think it was pathetic of him to leave before that last second was officially over. I re-emphasize: his team had to stay on the field to finish the game. He should've been there with them. I don't know how much of the Patriots you follow, but this is typical behavior from Belichick. He gets caught cheating this year and shows no remorse. He ran up the score all through the year, showing extreme arrogance. As long as I can remember watching him, he's been a sorry guy.

anyone watching the draft?

pretty boring for the Vikes, as we have traded half our picks to Kansas City for Jared Allen

Been following it the whole day. My team, the Dallas Cowboys, pick at 22nd and 28th. Hoping that we get Felix Jones, the RB from Arkansas. He'd make a good tandem with Barber.

Linemen been flying out (5 O-Line and 5 D-Line in first 19) Pats made good trade with the Saints.

Looks like Mendenhall will still be on the board too.
