Ricky Ponting is a better batsman than Don Bradman

GGG

State Captain
Impossible to compare, although todays players are probably more fit, batting skill levels haven't really changed throughout the ages, I mean it all boils down to hand eye co-ordination and time at the crease. My guess is if Bradman were playing today he would average 65.

How many 6's did Bradman hit in his career vs Ponting? Bradman wouldn't survive in the modern game.

Bradman debuted in Brisbane 1928-29, which was the very last test before bowlers became ordinary and pitches flattened out. He scored 18 and 1.

The batting dominated era which began after Brisbane's test in that series did not end until after the Ashes series in 1948.

Therefore, based on this representative sample of two innings, Bradman could not cope with quality bowling on pitches which weren't flat.

Therefore, even though Ponting's average in the 90s wasn't as good as his average now, the discrepancy is less than Bradman's, ergo Ponting > Bradman.

Bradman avoided the might of the New Zealand test team because he was scared of getting found out by Cowie and chums on the green-tops. FACT!

Whatever it takes!!!
The fact that Bradman couldn't play a Limited overs game for Australia says it all really.. :)

Anyone can score runs in the junk test match format, it takes special skill to be able to score in LOIs on flat tracks against field restrictions and bowling restrictions..... :p

Ponting never got a six year break through war to recharge his batteries. If he had done, I think he'd be averaging 423 by now.
