Yes even if it is a different format it will give them exposure to playing in front of huge, noisy crowds which isn't something you see in domestic cricket. And it will help improve their ODI skills for sure.Good to see domestic performers like Nayar, Akhil & Virat kohli do their bits along side class acts like Kallis, Pollock & Boucher. Usually even the Indian stars like Tendulkar only make guest appearances in the domestic circuit.
IPL will raise the confidence and quality of Indian domestic players, one feels and hopes.
are you implying that other teams have sloggersGo Bangalore, show people that class > slog even in this format.
Yes, other teams do have sloggers. No, I do not consider someone like McCullum a slogger, though sometimes he can be. And slogging can work - that's why people do it. The problem with slogging is that it can never work reliably. So you might hit a quick fifty once, but you'll do nothing for the next five matches. Class is more consistent.are you implying that other teams have sloggers
and if you consider someone like a McCullum a slogger than by your own admission, B'lore got beaten by a slogger .... if not then why r you calling other teams cricket as slog
so can we take it that other teams have class too, which makes comments like 'Go Bangalore, show people that class > slog even in this format' out of contextYes, other teams do have sloggers. I never got why even the Ranji matches etc were so unattended. I mean, there's a few hundred million school kids, many of whom have an annual picnic of some sort. Bus them to a Ranji match for that day and it will be great for the players and them as well. Give away a few tens of thousands of tickets in the numerous state lotteries, especially the weekend ones will be used.Yes even if it is a different format it will give them exposure to playing in front of huge, noisy crowds which isn't something you see in domestic cricket. Mumbai lost because it has crap bowling. Not saying that Banglore has better bowling, but they were slightly better and hence the win. Neither team is going to make much noise in the tournament.so saying that b'lore did well coz of dravid and kallis would be like saying excellent work to pinal and nayak and discounting the good work for others, if MI had won
Nope, because many people say the class of Bangalore is irrelevant in this tournament.so can we take it that other teams have class too, which makes comments like 'Go Bangalore, show people that class > slog even in this format' out of context
True that MI's bowling is not that good and it was one of the factors for the loss but let's not forget that Malinga, if available, and Pollock would have made a good combination and then Nehra and Bhajji would have provided decent back up, along with Jayasuriya and Tendulkar. But yeah, MI missed out on picking some good bowlers from the domesticsMumbai lost because it has crap bowling. I mean who picks Nehra as your frontline bowler anymore ?
class is not limited to Dravid and KallisNope, because many people say the class of Bangalore is irrelevant in this tournament.
No one said it was.class is not limited to Dravid and Kallis
If I had ever said that, you'd be right.if you are arguing that these two guys have class and others like Tendulkar, Jayasuriya, Ponting, Hussey, Sangakara, Hayden, etc then you probably need to re-look at the definition of class
Wrong. They'll do fine.B'lore has nothing to do with class, thats a branding misnomer, but yeah it has players who are more suitable for test cricket than T20
Again, it's not about doing fine but having better options .... to illustrate, you can kill someone with a knife or a gun, the Q is which is a better option in a given scenario .... Both knife and gun can do fine for killingWrong. They'll do fine.
'Go Bangalore, show people that class > slog even in this format'
They'll do better than most players.Again, it's not about doing fine but having better options ....
I meant that they have filled their team full of class players who were not expected to do well in 20/20, more so than almost any other team. They went for substance over fluff.then could you explain what did you mean by saying
so whats substance and whats fluff?I meant that they have filled their team full of class players who were not expected to do well in 20/20, more so than almost any other team. They went for substance over fluff.
Kallis and Dravid are substance. Guys like Uthappa, who went for more than Kallis, are fluff.so whats substance and whats fluff?
since you have classifies 'substance', how is it that B'lore has more substance than other teams?Kallis and Dravid are substance. Guys like Uthappa, who went for more than Kallis, are fluff.
Because they are better cricket players.since you have classifies 'substance', how is it that B'lore has more substance than other teams?
and why is Uthappa a fluff while Kallis and Dravid are 'substance' in T20 context
Doesn't mean that they are better T20 cricketers. Dravid and Kallis refuse to play those uncnventional shots, rarely try to hit the good balls, dont take much risks etc.Because they are better cricket players.
