If criucket was a spectator sport, I'd go for Curtly.

However it's much more than that and McGrath though not as intimidating as Curtly was more effective.

Hence, McGrath!!!

Curtley Ambrose essentially equates to Glenn McGrath with far more venom and marginally more accuracy, if a little less consistency and proficiency for consistently dismissing the opponents star batsman.

Ambrose quite comfortably.

Causing batsman to get out to deliveries which are no more than line and length points to intangible intimidation to me.

Trouble was Mcgrath could bowl on more pitches than ambrose, but Ambrose dominated the pitches he played with

Yep. Doesn't look too good on Tendulkar that he only averages 46 against Test quality nations in such an era, but that belongs in another thread...
How about Brian Lara then?

But its okay, with Ricky now starting to get his injuries from playing so many years of cricket, you'll use that as an excuse for lower scores, whereas for Tendulkar its a good way to stick it in to a legend of the game.

Apart from moving it around and getting bounce off a good length.
if youre talking about Curtley, McGrath got it to bounce off a good length, and also got it to move off the deck...

Also no way in hell Ambrose was more accurate. If you must compare McGrath to a west indian compare him to the creme da le creme, Michael Holding.

Marshall, Roberts and Holding were all better than Ambrose was.

No way, Ambrose was better than all of them except Marshall.

No doubt Glenn McGrath is one of the best bowler he carried the Australian pace attack on his shoulder but however you should not forget that at the time Ambrose he was surrounded by quality bowlers and in spite of that he leaved his mark that is really tremendous ..

Shahid Afridi smashing sixes is a sight I love to see more than Rahul Dravid grafting out a ton, but it means absolutely nothing in terms of assessing who is a better batsman.
it does to me.. i rate afridi higher than draivd and kallis and i would pick him over both of them in any form of the game..

i voted for Ambrose..

god watching those clips.. i really miss watching him bowl :(

thank god for ipl? lol
didnt dissappoint as usual

By the way id like to add, does McGrath still on top of his game (leading world cup wicket taker) at the end of his career help in this debate? as iidr Ambrose and Walsh werent that good in the end

No way in hell Ambrose was better than Holding, Holding is one of the best ever, top 3 easily with Lillee of all time

Holding was shorter but he was a lot faster than Ambrose.

Should learn the difference between who you like and who is/isn't a good player I don't particularly like watching Gilchrist bat but that doesn't mean he's crap.

Good to see a ban... at last... and hopefully clueless nonsense like this will be no more soon.

i hope he got banned for some other reason. not possible to follow all threads, so i dont know. but calling holding a top 3 fast bowler or ranking him above ambrose is not a crime at all. mikey deserves a lot more respect than this.
