Warne and McGrath must be the 2 best value buys in the IPL
McGrath certainly is. I'm not convinced about Warne and his ability to bowl here, but I wouldn't put it past him. Same goes with Murali. Both went cheap, but its tough for overseas spinners. Of course, many players they'll be facing are non-International Indians and other overseas players who they've always had the wood on, so you may be right in terms of value.

McGrath should have gone for much much more though.

Especially as he's available for all games

Whether it's 140/130/120 or 110 ks, a length is a length and the guy could put it on a dime when he's 75 - one of the greats

Yes. And I don't know if you were watching live, but his fourth over showed exactly why. Salunkhe played a really weird scoop from outside off stump off a good delivery. The very next ball, McGrath sent one down that looked exactly the same, but it was just slightly different in length and Salunkhe thought he could play the same shot to it - but got beaten due to the length.

You can't teach that type of cricket intellect. He'll be invaluable. And as you say, he'll play every game.

what the Royal's inning showed that on such tracks even if you play badly you still can get 6 an over or more .... atm, they look some 40 runs short

Delhi, which is one of my 2 top teams, will be happy wit their perfo with the ball but that good perfor was more due to to Royal's bad display than the bowlers lifing their games up

Didnt watch tonight but McGrath's performance was pretty predictable

Fortunate enough to see a lot of great bowlers over the last 30 years (IMO Marshall, Akram and Wasim were the the most talented with prodigious swing at great pace) but no-one beats this guy for effectiveness

Not the fastest

Not the most movement

But nobody is smarter or more consistent in all conditions

Watto hit for 4 by Sehwag the first two balls. Will probs get injured before the over is complete.
